Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

I'm really digging this build. I wanted to run Porterbuilt stuff in my truck, but I really don't want to cut up my bed or raise my floor. Mine's a step side, so space is already limited. I do plan on doing a mini-notch though. I just need another inch or 2. Story of my life, amiright?

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

I initially felt the same. I actually never planned on LS swapping or bagging it. Just kinda snowballed.

I'm only going to raise my bed 3-4 inches which will be almost unnoticeable with the tailgate shut.

If you run the bumpstops with this notch you don't even have to raise the bed floor

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

Started raising the bed floor today. So far so good. It's not going to be perfect, as I don't think any portion of the bed is straight or dent free enough to get a good measurement, but it's close!

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

Made some progress on the bed today. Wood is finished. Need to cut the 2 boards around the wheel wells and then stain/seal. It's yellow pine because I don't feel like spending a fortune on something that's going to eventually rot anyway. That and I will be using it.

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

Getting ready to get the interior painted. Someone cut the dash for a cd player, so I welded in a patch to completely fill it. Just going to run an under the dash amp with an AUX input.

Pushed it back in the corner of the shop, as I've been messing with my newest creation. '64 Volvo LS1/t56.

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

Man, I haven't touched this truck in a long time. I've been too busy building this sweet Volvo.

Anyway, figured out the longtubes off the LS1 camaro donor (motor/trans that went in the above Volvo) fit the truck perfectly!

Also, my buddy came by the shop and painted the cab interior for me. Waiting on my monstaliner to get here to do the floor.

Slowly putting it back together, hope to have it driving soon!

Monstaliner floor and lower a pillars. Powdercoated seat frame, black leather seat, factory gauges with the LS swap, and I'll convert the 4l80 VSS to work with the factory speedometer.

They are transport wheels. Powdercoated cherry red to match the patina with dog dish caps. I bought several sets for future use lol.

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

I'm really diggin This build! From the rims to the raised bed floor. Super cool and functional. I'm curious about the raised bed floor and if you tied the welded angle iron into the cross braces that are bolted to the frame?

Thank you,

Jason

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

Monsalined the inside cab floor, painted the inside cab. Also, installed my reupholstered seat. Black pleaded leather.

Last but not least, finally got around to installing these Camaro (I think) dog dish caps. Scored them off Ebay for $50

Re: '65 SWB Patina Build

It runs. Need to work on the tune a little, but it runs. It's wrapping up at this point.

Now I have to figure out a driveshaft. I really want to run a 1 piece shaft, but I don't think I can with the stock trailing arm xmember.

I've been driving the truck for about a week now working out kinks. Ordered a Dakota Digital VHX cluster. Pretty excited about that. Also, the big stalled converter is taking some getting used to, but it's a blast to drive.
