Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Gettin' there Rusty76.
Here's where I'm at. Found the rear main seal and now know how to tackle it. Also I see that the oil pump shaft plastic sheath was busted. I now know that the bits in the oil pickup screen were from the old timing gear as I thought. Should be popping in the new seals this weekend. I will say that it pisses me off to no end not to be able to pull this puppy now and clean it up.. In due time I reckon. |

Got the new rear main seal in and clean and painted the oil pan. I'll get the pan back on tonight.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Got the oil pan on last night. The little blue pin ups they provide with the Fel-pro one piece gasket are the tits! Jacked up on the front cross support to get a little more access and I guess this is what a 2.5 inch lift would do in the front..

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Looks like you had fun with the pan. Hopefully the timing chain cover to pan seal will seal up well. I had a heck of a time with mine when the timing chain let go years ago. Looking good.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Ahhhh don't scare he like that Rusty. I degreased the bay and under the engine the best I could with the purple stuff. Got her to temp and was running great! Oil pressure was sitting about 30 at idle and jumps to 40-50 when singing which is way better than before this adventure. 30 was the max before. Guess the plastic was clogging it pretty good. I'll crawl underneath 2morrow and do a "oil leak recon". Fingers crossed!!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Matt I think I got them from Brothers off a Christmas gift certificate lol. They are the Energy Suspension brand. My bolts were in great shape so I just reused them.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Nice job restoring this old K truck
When I posted on your question about front hubs I didn't realize that you were this deep into things! You should have no trouble on the front end; it all becomes real clear as you take it apart.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Got to play a little out at my buddies farm this weekend. He has a sweet camera and got some cool shots.
As far as work done, not much as the heat sucks.. I did replace the door pins and bushings in the passenger door and reline the door to close better. Also stripped all the door panel and hardware off as i'm about to re dye the interior I think. I greased the window tracks while I was in there. |

Those are some cool pics. Did you go fishing while you were there too. Looks like a beautiful place.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Not much new stuff done. I replaced the steering stabilizer this weekend with a Rancho. The factory Delco was dead and bent. I have been buffing and polishing the paint to see what comes of the top and hood. Looks pretty good so far! Ill have to do some serious body work to the lower half. Just don't have the budget at this point.
