Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I was able to get the box reinstalled last night with the help of my brother inlaw. Now I just need to get the doors hood and fenders painted soon so I can get them back on too.

Looks great!!! I'm amazing you got it to sit that low without having to raise the bed floor.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I just have enough clearance to make it work. Not a fan of raising the bed floor myself. I know a lot of guys do raise the bed floor but not on this truck. I don't plan on hauling anything but I did put some air bags as helpers for the leafs if I ever do put anything in the back.

I agree. I am hoping to get mine as low as I can without raising the bed floor more than an inch or two.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I saw earlier in your build thread that you had to add a pipe notch to the middle crossmember, did you have to notch the one under the cab for drive shaft clearance as well or did it clear?

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

Just had to make clearance on the one under the box. It only rubbed under real hard acceleration so I gave it lots of room.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

Got a few things done last night. Back window installed, box bolted down, seatbelts put back in and rear bumper installed. Running out of things to do before I get back to painting.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

Yes I sure am chomping!!! I had a little setback last night. If you look at my last picture and see the jack stand beside my hoist and the hydraulic line that comes out of the hoist well guess what... I must have kicked it while I was blocking and when I let the hoist down it hit that line and spewed hydraulic fluid everywhere. What a mess that makes. I was so mad I did not even swear haha. I stopped off at the place this morning that fixes hoses and they tell me that those fittings are made in the " worst place in China " and they do not have a fitting that will work but he said to leave it with him and he would see what he could do. I hope today goes a little smoother because I would like to paint the doors fenders and hood this weekend.

Nice photos.
I saw the "UTE" on the sign and had to laugh.
Most people call pickups "utes" here (short for utility)
