Yesterday I made another step closer to getting my frame sandblasted. Used my cab lifter to lift it off the frame. Now it's just a matter of getting the frame to the blaster.

Also finished epoxy priming the rear fender. Then I started shaving the marker light and stake pockets.

Will hopefully have that buttoned up by the end of the week.

Still progressing on the bodywork. Very tedious. Been working on the rear fender. Finished all the metal work and started the body filler. Sanded it down with 40g. Next step is glaze. Then repeat on the other fender.

Stake pockets and marker light shaved. Fairly easy process. Just had to go slow on the marker light to prevent warping.

While letting the filler cure, I through in some fat mat. I've read on here that full coverage isn't necessary, and it should help with vibrations.

Using rage gold. Stuff sands like butter.

Down to 40grit. Will start glaze next weekend 👌🏽

Right now the plan is to use mass loaded vinyle on the floor pan and then carpet. I figure I have some time until I get to the interior. Body work is taking up a lot of time, so it'll be a bit until I get there.

Slow week in the shop due to working out of town. not a huge deal tho cuz i’m waiting on some supplies to come in the mail.

Just about done with my rear fender body work. Waiting on some body filler to finish it up. In the mean time I shaved the stake pockets on the other fender. Went pretty quick since I had the patches cutout already from doing the first fender. Will get to the filler when it comes in.

The rear corner on the passenger rear fender. These suckers take forever to sand. But damn is it straight.

This came in the mail today. Pretty stoked. Going to throw this in the rear Dr. Side fender top rail for my fuel filler. It's a pop-up fuel cap that will be flush with the top rail. I think it'll look pretty slicK.

Also feel like I kind of scored. For the longest time I had this steering column. I had picked it up two years ago. It was in the back of my parts truck and this entire time I figured it was a non-tilt. Low and behold it was a tilt! It's in pretty decent shape. Will try to send it off to get refurbished and also get new steering wheel

Nice work as usual. I'm doing similar filler in bed stake pocket so I'm happy to see someone else doing this before me. Do you know what size and material your going to use for tubing down to tank? Have you thought about a vent pipe too? I want to incorporate a vent pipe so it's fast filling...

Appreciate it. As for material, I'm still trying to work out the kinks. Right now I plan to weld the neck to the top rail. The pipe that screws into that is about 4" long. It has an OD of 2" so I'll attach a rubber fuel hose to that using some hose clamps. I'll run that to my Boyd's fuel tank that has a 2" side fill. As for a vent, I believe I can run a vent hose from my fuel tank up the opposite stake pocket. Still working through it though.

Quick update. My hole saw kit came in the mail this week. The OD of my fuel cap is 2-1/4" so I marked out where I want the center of my cap and started drilling. It cut out fairly easy.

In the stake pocket, there is a piece of steel that is spot welded in about 6" below the top of the stake pocket. I ended up drilling out those spot welds. Now I have a clear path for my fuel hose.

Just slid the fuel cap in to see the fit. I think it'll look pretty Sharp. Will try to get it welded in this weekend if I get the hose. Might put some access door in the side of the stake pocket in case I ever need access to the fuel hose. To be determined.

Also was able to remove my steering wheel. That sucker was on there tight. Going to try and send it out to get cleaned up and refurbished.

The 2” fuel filler seemed a tad big after looking at it a bit harder. I decided to go with the 1.5" filler instead. Found this pop-up deck fill cap that looked pretty slick. Ordered some fuel filler hose and some hose clamps to put the assembly together. After I weld in the fuel filler neck it'd be tough to get on.

Welded the 2" hole back up.

Tacked the filler in. It is a Marine deck fill I ordered from West Marine.

Should look pretty slick.

Almost finished up the filler and sanding on the top rail.

About 95% done sanding on both the fenders. Can't wait to be done!

i agree. must not be super common, as i’ve only seen a handful of pickups on here with a filler in that location. Definitely a little different.

And yes, I installed the hose before. I have a 90 degree steel pipe that I'll connect to the hose where it exits the stake pocket. I will have to run a reducer to go from 1.5" to 2" off of that.
