Not factory, but I can picture it. I'd like it.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
I wish I had pictures, but this was way back in '98... I was at the Sport Truck Nationals in Owensboro, KY and there was a truck there that was factory crew cab dually that got totalled. When they rebuilt it, they made it a short bed and then added the extended cab section from a 3-door truck, turning it into a 5-door extended crew cab shortbed dually. It was lowered with some Alcoas, had a slick paint job and interior. I so wish I had pics of the thing!

Benoit- I'm down with the chrome, usually looks tacky but with that fade i think it looks good.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Here are a few shots of the '99 Z 56 Police Package Tahoe I am building. 3-5 drop using factory lowered spirings with Belltech spindles, shackles and hangers. Staggard Boss 20" wheels with 275s up front and 295s out back I ditched the factory sealed beams with work truck grille and swapped in a gmc grille shell with billet insert and aftermarket lights. Lots of mods to come including custom 1 off Formula hood.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Yeah they do handle great, I just dropped mine over the weekend and am waiting on some new tierod ends and steering stuff before I get it aligned. I can't wait to see how well it handles then. I put a k&N fipk on mine and boy did it wake it up a bit. You get a sweet throaty sound out of the engine compartment under load. Good luck with yours, I wish mine looked that clean when I got it. Some hillbilly had mine, it had superswampers on it and a home made safari rack. I am still trying to get all the mud out from underneith it and I have had it for about 8 monthes. lol

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
This is my first day in this forum. Hello everyone!!
I work on my own truck...... but I didn't think about joining until now. I bought my '88 GMC Sierra 2500, back in '90, with 11,000 miles. To make a long story short ( you're welcome moderator ) ..... I have 364,000 miles on it, with a 350 4-bolt main engine (75,000 miles)..... and an Art Carr 'high horsepower' 700R4 tranny. other than a paint job ( GM paint was crap).... The only major items original is the rear-end, & carbon-wrapped driveshaft. Years alone, demands typical parts replacement. Today I'll search the forum for issues around the wiper/delay. I am looking forward to check out this place!! |

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Wiper problem is common. Just pick up a new control board (located in the wiper motor housing on your firewall) at your favorite parts supplier. 90% of the time that fixes it. The other 10% of the time the board doesnt fit that motor (been discoed) and you have to replace the whole motor assy. Beings its an '88, odds are pretty good youre in the 10% camp.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks
Found these old pictures of my '88 truck, the next day, after I bought it in 1990. Then a current pic. At the time, the helper leaf spring was still on. After removing the extra leaf, it brought it back to the 3/4 ton height, and the fiberglass shell dropped it another inch. The wheels are powder-coated, with a similar color of the stock rims.

DON'T get inexpensive aftermarket 'Wing' mirrors. They are too thin & are crap. Better chance at a wrecking yard. You can replace the glass if needed. |

Thanks, 1badgmc and mountie. My brother is a body man, so I'll just have him "help" me if I get some different mirrors.
