Mark, that's good. I only know one guy that may have had one and I doubt he'd let any go. He likes to sell them with his getrag swap kits.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Nick swapped out the industrial 190 injection pump with a 180hp dodge pump. It idles smoother, has no more haze at idle, and no leaks.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Last weekend I started doing some piddly stuff to help clean up under the hood. I added wire loom to some battery cables, painted the radiator hold downs, and installed the air filter and tube. That is a PITA.
Now I'm working on getting the inner wheel wells finished up and painted and hopefully install them this weekend.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
you probably need some way of deflecting mud and stuff of that filter , its right in the line of fire of everything slinging off the front tire

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Thats good, watahyahknow is right, that thing will get all messed up if you leave it exposed.
i think you should relocate your oil filter. then maybe you wont have such a PITA air inlet. thats what im going to do. |

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
one good think about having it raised instead of lowered is that you can set the fenders with a lot more clearance on top you could even go straigth in from the outer fender lip and still dont have the wheels rub at full travel

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Your such a bad influence it's not even funny......I was supposed to get a 12 valve last week...then I ended up with a hopped up 24 valve from a insurance deal which looks to be a 2002 with a BD built tranny. Then i bought another dually chassis.......then i bought another cab.....you see how this is going now? Your truck looks killer and now it's going to cost me huge money......lol....thanks dude...thanks alot

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
think a lot of us carnuts/entousiasts are verry succeptable to the "might as whell"'s
simptoms are big cash redraws even when promising the other and youreself to behave driving faster than needed to get that deal of the century and taking bigger risks then nessisairy to get that deal home or out of sight of the others living in youre home oh and dont forget that the wintertime project turns out to become a multy year round build , feul for fights with the bosslady and a honeydo list a mile long

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
I hear ya. That's what the inner fenders are for. Looking good man. What hydro boost unit did you use. Getting closer on my short box Cummins swap. Just figuring out the little stuff which seems to take the most time. Keep up the good work! Looks awesome. YA Buddy!

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Here's a little more done to it. I got the LH inner fender rust repaired, painted and undercoated the under side. I'll have to touch it up later as some of the undercoating wasn't 100% set up when I put the wheel well in last night. I still have to relocate some wires and hoses and attatch them to the truck. Today I removed my air filter pipe and cut it so the filter will reside higher and farther back to gain more room for the RH inner fender. Tomorrow I will fit the inner and then clean it up and paint it.
