Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
alright guys...since i cant ever keep a secret here it is ....what i have been working on, i havent seen this done before (i am sure someone has) Well i couldnt bring myself to cut up my take off tailgate that i gave $800 for years ago and when i raised my bedfloor i didnt like the look of the indentions in the tailgate and the back of the bed being straight....so in my process of trying to figure out what to do i decided to cut up another tailgate and weld that panel in so it would contour to the gate, i think this will be a really cool touch that will set it apart from the crowd (much thanks to RODSTORED-72 for having a patch panel gate in great condition) well enough talk here it is !! keep in mind it is just all tacked together at the moment !

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
its a lot of work , the other thing you couldve done is cut the bottom of the inner part of the gate and raise the flat part up untill its level with the top of the floor , you dont need the fancy ribs at the end of the floor anymore

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
Looks very clean and gives that awesome added detail!
I don't know much about metal work, but would this easily bend? I would just hate to see those tabs get whacked by a ice chest since the bed floor is raised and bent/cracked after paint. If that is a concern, could you make some simple gussets to make that not happen?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
the cross brace is 1x3 rectangle tubing , the step out are 1/2 inch angle and yes the tailgate patch panel piece will all be welded together solid....nothing will be able to get bent

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
yes the ribs are flush at the top and the wood butts up to the other side just like it would have in a stock bed floor
