Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I didn't get a whole lot done but I did get a lot started lol. I got the kick panel patches tacked in. I got the cowl panel filler tacked in. A whole lot of work left to do on it. Took the bed off so I can put it together and weld in the cover for the fuel filler. I also welded a patch on my wood bed tail piece.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I picked up a couple head gates for my steel and wood bed floors. I'll be getting the wood head gate and tail piece painted so I can change to wood later if I want. I also got a new rear bumper. I noticed that my door stops aren't working on either door so I ordered new top hinges today.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I worked on the cowl today. I marked a dolly line and went to it. I had my wife help hold it for me. It worked pretty well. I got a lot of welds put on it. I have a lot of grinding to do. You can see my dolly marks on the underside.

I also got the drivers fender off and sanded thew filler off of it. Then put some glazing on it. Also glazed the passenger fender. Made a mess sanding the filler lol. I also got the wood rear piece done and ground off the original welds. Its ready.

I started putting the bed together but didn't get far. I got the tubs and front piece on loosely.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks Mike.

I got the kick panels done except for seam sealing them. The inner part of the fenders are ready to be primed/painted.

My door hinges should be here tomorrow.

Its 18ga. and thanks.

The other night I stayed up till 1:30AM working on this thing. Went to work and had to work late since there was a fire at one of the schools. So I'm beat.
I got the fenders ready to prime and got the cab seam sealed except for the roof gutter which will be done at the body shop. I got the door hinges on. I got the hood hinges off and painted. The cowl area (where the wiper arms are) painted. I hope to get a jump tomorrow on it.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I got the rocker done and put the bed together. I'm still working on the body lines at the rear and tailgate lines to get them to meet up better. I don't like the way my hood hinges turned out with the paint so I will have them powder coated. I put the cowl on and partially bolted down to see where I need to work on it next. I need to grind down the welds and coat the under side. Once I get the fenders on I can work on the lines. I got the passenger fender painted and the driver side primed.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks Rus. I had to cut both bed sides to make the lines meet up with the original tail gate. I love after market panels.pics later. Taking a break.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I finally got the tailgate to line up w/the bed sides. I had to cut both the sides at the rear to move the metal around. The passenger side was worse than the drivers side. But its all good now.
