So whats your opinion on this stuff?
Okay let me try to answer this. If you are going with a solid color (non-metallic) you can use a single stage (actually a lot of guy prefer single stage for solid colors) if you are going with a metallic color I would only use base coat/clear don't even think about use a single stage metallic.

Now you can clear coat a single stage system you just don't have to. Its very easy to shoot a base coat/clear system and here's why. Its very easy to shoot the base coat without runs or orange peel so don't worry there. Where you may get your runs or orange peel would be in the clear coat, but the great thing about it is if you put 3 or more coats of clear on you can cut and buff (wet sand and buff to shine) all of the imperfections out.

You can also cut and buff a solid single stage paint. Just stay clear of single stage metallic and you will be fine.

Thanks, that makes sense even to me. I am planning on doing some experiments on old pieces to get it right, and I have painted in the past just not very much. Wish I was closer so I could come see yours in person, really love that green.

If you painted before it will be a piece of cake for you. Its not hard its just getting the knowledge and applying it. You just have to and remember sand paper and repaint can fix the wrong color just as while as a mistakes.lol

Man you will like the green even better in person. Its lighter than in the pics. Its like more kiwi in person. It looks like a kiwi metallic with a gold pearl. The more I look at it the more I like it.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

BCToyBox came by and took some shots of the cab and his pics are better than mine (better camera also) and you can really see the color so I thought I would share.
I know the pics are basically the same ones I took but his camera is much better and you can really see what the color looks like in person.

As far as what I'm working on now. That would be final mock up and fixing all those dreaded panel gaps before painting the cab.lol But I must be honest have not be doing much because of all the car shows I've be going to. This is car show season here and I've been making the rounds.lol

President Butthead? Lol.

Oh well, if that's the only thing you get called as President that's doing great these days!

Bam, your truck just flatly looks GREAT! Truly and deeply impressed. As I said on "the other board" it reminds me of my favorite candy. Bam will now be known as the "Jolly Rancher" ha ha.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

That green is something you gotta see it in person the pictures don't do it justice, and it really pops next to polished aluminum, especially billet aluminum... Ohh I know what, when you're done we can post pictures of it on KillBillet and watch their heads explode
All kidding aside Kabwe the truck is going to look awesome I go to a lot of shows and there are not a lot of greens like this out there. You always want to do something a little different and this is it... Bling, Bling,BLINGGGG!!!

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Thanks guys I really appreciate the comments.

BC don't even get me started on the cookie cutter mentality of any kind. Be it my style of build or others I'm not into everyone has to build the same ride or your ride is not cool mentality. I just love old metal and respect all who take the time to pick the challenge of building something. I'm a huge fan of the home builder because that is what rodding is all about be it stocked, modified, custom, prostreet, or what ever. Just get your build on and the heck with all the crap among car guys. True car guys must love cars period.
