Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the rest of the random storage stuff out of my shop so I now have room to work again. Also may have gotten a few parts scrounged up to replace damaged body panels. And I drove the Camaro today for my 40+ mile drive in to work.

Worked on Clarabell, added a little Coca-Cola flavor to her. My wife is a serious coke collecter so i decided to go with Coke theme without being to corny. Her bike will go in the back when we hit some car cruises, just need a old coke cooler now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
got it ready to be loaded on a trailer to bring it home. I also made tie rod adapters to take my Mustang rack to Chevy knuckles but I'm too lazy to upload that picture.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I got my dash board parts and put in the lights and the glove box door bushings. It all fits real well. I also put in the vents and cables. With all the powder coating on the interior parts it is looking very nice and new. I got my brake hubs and seat rails back from powder coating.
I decided to invert the new fuse box and run the wires out the top rather than bend them around from the bottom. That means the writing is upside down but it seems a much better fit to go out the firewall hole. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Started radiusing the bed rails. I saw this idea here on our forum and decided to give it a try. I am using long radius 1-1/2" pipe elbows.
I need to fit-up a short piece of 1-1/2" pipe now to continue the rounded edge on over to the tail gate, then patch the hole from the original stock tailgate latch. Then weld everything up. The radius looks good 'cause it is visually similar to the fender radius... makes it look like something GM should have done, back in the day, IMHO. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Yesterday I ordered my misalignment spacers for my steering knuckles. Today I ordered poly bushings for the front end. It's coming together.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well, it wasn't today, but I traded the truck away to a buddy. Turns out I wanted to use it as a truck-truck, when it is more suited as a show/cruising-truck. Felt bad throwing stuff in the bed, scratching up the painted rails and such.
I'm kinda a more-door kind of guy anyway, the Bel Air is what I traded for. Needs a small block and a 700R4, but it's pretty cool. My buddy did the bags, panel paint work and the stripes before he traded me. I'm thinking of getting another 64-66 to use as a daily/hauler, but only with a static drop.

The front rails: From my perspective it is a "visual flow" thing. The back of the cab is flat, so the rails look fine in the front. But in the rear the fenders have large rounded edges, and the radiused rails just seem right. I will probably finish these next week, maybe... life has a way of getting in the way of my hot rod projects... if you know what I mean. |
