Re: My 52 GMC Build

Shop update: We got the wire roughed in last night. I have 10 receptacle boxes on 4 20A circuits plus 2 outside and the lighting.

At the show Saturday I took very few pictures, only stuff that really was different like the blue Chevy with IDR suspension and hydraulic over spring adjustment. At the end of the day I backed my truck down onto turn 4. Wow is that steep. We also got to do 4 laps on the track this year, got the truck up to 89mph. After dinner with our NC friends, she has this beautiful burb with a done up 383. We drag raced a couple of times off a light and we are dead even. Good times!!!!

So basically some heat and electricity and you can start working in the garage. They'll just have to build around you

That shot is super cool on the banked turn.

Fun times and memories right there. The blue Burb is really nice. Do they participate here in the forum?

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Shop update: Back wall is sheeted and the back overhang is built. Inspections for wire rough in and framing are tomorrow.

On our trip: Sunday Oct 22 we went for a 40 min drive and met up with Matt (Rusty76) He is a great guy and our short visit was not long enough, next year we will meet up again. Monday Oct 23 we where headed to Pilot mountain. On our way we stopped at our friends shop where they repair plastic injection molds. They showed me how to use there lazer welder. The filler wire they started me on was .008". You look through a microscope and see this. Very cool!!! We got to Pilot mountain Monday in the dark I woke up to this. We hiked around the peak, Pilot mountain rises 1400' very beautiful.

Awesome progress on the shop, and very cool to hear you had no issues on your trip. You can't beat the mileage with it either. Was that truck with the 6-71 an International? The cab sure looks like a rattle trap, I mean 4700 series.

Shop update:
Huge leap forward. Friday I had the frame and electric inspected, both passed to the next stage. Called in some friends for Saturday, 7 of us worked for 6 hours and got the walls sheeted, windows installed and steel roof on. I am still sore. That's me putting the last ridge cap on. Then on Sunday I bought and installed the 36" man door.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

On our NC trip: Wednesday Oct 25 we headed to West Virginia to the New River Gorge. Camping Wednesday we had ice pellets and wondered why we left North Carolina lol. Thursday made up for it. The 4th pic sign said "low ground clearance" They where right, truck all up still scraped.

A few more from New River. It is the longest steel span in the western hemisphere and the third highest in the United States. It was a great day.

That sounds like a ton of work but yeah you got a long way fast! I think all projects can sometimes get that way where you just say...hey another hour or two and I can call it done....6 hours later.

Was working on framing my truck bed last night which started with tearing off the old sheet metal from the S10 chassis bed. After a couple of hours I knew the end was in sight, so I kept at it. Went to bed tired but knew the bed was pretty close to ready for mounts.

Ya we all had a good idea of how much work there was and buckled down.
I always set a goal when working on my stuff. Sometimes I'm done sooner, others hours later. Feels good tho.

I think they have alternative motives in some way, but hey that's what friends are for. It was a great trip.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Shop update:
Spray foam insulation is scheduled for Thursday. So tonight we worked on cleaning up inside.

NC trip Oct 26 we left New river Gorge headed up to Grove city PA. It was a beautiful drive sun was out and leafs where bright with fall colors.
The L.E.D. headlights still work amazing.
Going up a 5% grade.
Friday our last day we met up with Henry (99 to life) at his new shop. He has a real nice place and will be even better when he gets a truck or 4 there to work on. It was great to catch up with you Henry, looking forward to next time. Oh and I got some of his home roasted coffee Got home Friday night here is the trip info.

Sunday Oct 29 My truck got rented out to a photographer who found me through FB and we set it up for my truck to be a backdrop for family Christmas cards for her clients. Drove it 30 min away, must have been 15 family that day in 6 hrs. It was cool, truck made $300.
