B-B-B-Beautiful. I've seen a smaller picture of that before. Nice restoration. I reckon that's an oil field rig?

They don't get much nicer than that.

Beautiful example of a nice 9500 Long Nose.

Even I would look good in that one.

I can see me now, shifting a 6+4 behind that screaming Jimmy.

Re: GM Semis

That was an inside joke with myself. I drove a nine speed behind a 60 series Detroit yesterday for and hour before I realized it was a 13 speed.

Here's a ripped off pic of one of my former Teamster brothers. Probably loaded up with donuts in an older long nose...

That actually was a very special one-off 950 tractor built for Pacific Intermountain Express in 1951. The only GMC road tractor ever built with a 275 h.p. Detroit 6-110 industrial/marine diesel. Idea was to give P.I.E. a very powerful tractor for for going over the Rockies, ect.. It wasn't successful, the 6-110 used a centrifugal blower (instead of the typical Rootes blower that a 71 series used) and was failure prone. Of course when the blower failed the engine swallowed the pieces and it was taken out as well!

I recall reading about these. PIE was always working on ways to conquer the Rockies. That model is a not only a long nose, it's a tall boy!

Re: GM Semis

I think you are correct. Nice picture, like a dream. I wonder if the rear HandiVan is a camper order. Is that a pinstripe on the red truck or a reflection?

Re: GM Semis

Find more???Most of the car carriers you see on the web originated on my Flickr page. That includes the ATC GMC seen above. Here's a better view of that Insured rig.

Re: GM Semis

More great pictures.

That Red GMC Conventional is an interesting shot.

Looks like it is only a 5000 though.

Probably has a 351 or 401.

Re: GM Semis

I believe you are right.

Also the Tractor itself is only a '66 or '67.

The emblem on the hood is a little hard to see, but it looks like it's a V-6 Gas or a Toro-Flow.

Re: GM Semis

About two months ago I uploaded about twenty photos of 47-54 Chev and GMC car carriers. I show some here but before I do,,,,here's a 36 or 37 Montpelier cab Chevy and semi enclosed W&K trailer. The same cabs were also used on Dodges before they made a COE in-house.
