Re: My 1965 build thread
I tried signing the guestbook, but for some reason it woulndn't work...probably user error. Just wanted to say, you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers during this tough time. I had to deal with my uncle's self inflicted death a few years back...and it was definitely the hardest time of my life. I've had several deaths in the family, but a self inflicted death is the hardest to deal with. It leaves you with so many questions, and very little answers. But, the one thing that helped me and my family through that time was each other. I can tell this an extremely tough time for you, so you and your family must be close...they are the ones that will help you through this. Like you said, love your family members every chance you get and let them know you love them!

Re: My 1965 build thread
Alan, I'm really sorry to hear that. If there is anything i can do please don't hesitate to call. My son and i were just talking about you Saturday. I should have called you this weekend. I'm just signing out and saw your post. Its a very tough process, i am not looking forward to it with my father, as his health is failing as each week passes. We have spent more time together since i got this truck than my entire life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!!

Re: My 1965 build thread
My condolences to you and your family Alan.
I just spent a few hours with my Dad and Mom this weekend. They live about 7 hours away, and we don't see each other enough. We met up to let them keep my 2 boys this week. I did find out that he has my orginal seat for my 65 in his barn though. I thought it was long gone...

Re: My 1965 build thread
Thanks to everyone for all comments and inspiration. It was a great service. I still feel numb just taking it day by day.
While there at the funeral home I heard mention of some old cars in the back. You know me I had to check it out. I had time to see 2 of them. It was just awesome. Here is the 1940 Lesalle hearse And my favorite a 1936 Lincoln Limo. Then have more somewhere else, but didn't have the time today to check them out. It said V12 but has a big block Chevy. You know it takes a chevy to make a Furd move.

Re: My 1965 build thread
Alan-
Tried to sign guestbook - didn't like my browser. So sorry to hear about your dad - I lost mine in the 80s - he was the guy who had me identifying cars when I was 4, and he's with me every time I go out to the garage. My prayers are with you and your family. |

Re: My 1965 build thread
Thanks again guys for the prayers and condolences.
Trying to get back in the saddle. There are so many reasons I can't get anything done. Just because he's in the ground things aren't letting up. Now the recovery time begins and handling the legal and personal items. Before I found out he killed himself I was getting back to working on my truck. I filled in the pinholes and primed the vent window frames. Only the outside of the frames were pitted. While looking for pics of my dad for the funeral I ran across the way I use to work before I had the shop. This was my frame machine. My wife couldn't pass up the shot. I just previewed this messsage and noticed the bird house in the back ground was made by my dad. He was an outstanding wood worker. Here is a hollow vessel that was almost complete He was in process of making gear shift knobs for the miatas in the club. What he left on the lathe I might go ahead and finish it up for a club member. I spent alot of time turning with him when I got out of the service, but realized cars was my life and made a hard decision to persue cars. I was going to save wood turning for when I retire.

Re: My 1965 build thread
Instead of wood, use Billet. But then you would have to get a Mill. It never ends.
Glad you back working. It takes your mind off things.

Re: My 1965 build thread
Sorry to hear about your loss, Alan. I was wondering what happened to your build thread just yesterday; I never imagined anything like this. I usually just lurk over here in the 60-66 forum, but you guys do seem to have a lot of fun. I may have to get another one just so I can hang around in here and contribute.
I used to use almost the same pulling post. An oak tree and a come along can do wonders. Last edited by Jonboy; 08-21-2009 at 09:42 AM. |
