Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That's going to be sharp when you're finished. I want a gas pump for the garage too, I've been looking for a 1958-62 model but have not found one yet. Also all theh extra $$ are going into the truck for now, unless I come across a real steal.
I got just the spot for it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks jbgroby. I have been collecting and restoring these for over 20 years now. I love these old pumps as much as these old trucks, LOL. They are alot of fun to restore and really add that extra touch to a shop or garage like you are talking about.

And to stay on topic, I started working on removing my Goodguys event sticker from my windshield today. Damaged my right wrist/hand a week ago and today is the 1st day I've been able to use it again. Last edited by markeb01; 08-22-2010 at 05:26 PM. |

I'll second that. Murphy's law definitely applies to working on these trucks!

Just sold a MS 80 to a guy in Dallas 3 weeks ago. It was perfect, no dents or rust. Actually those are pretty common and you can pick one fairly easy on CL or Ebay. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My dad served on the USS Forrestal from 63-64. I decided to start this memorial to honor the men who were killed in the explosion on July 29, 1967. It was a sad and horrible event that took place. I feel it is my duty as a Patriotic American to build a memorial to these American HERO'S. Check out our website. I have been working on the website for over a year now and still have a long way to go. We ALL as Americans need to never forget our Veterans and those who never came home. These men and women are the reason i am free to do the things i enjoy like work on my ol 64 Chevy truck and that is something i will NEVER take for granted.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I was in the Marines from 66-70, and remember this event and the fire aboard the Big O the year before. A lot of young men in my age group perished in both events, which personalized the tragedies for a many of us.
Good for you taking the time to put together the site, well done. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
[QUOTE=markeb01;4151939]If I ever find that opportunity, I'd like to restore a Martin & Schwartz model 80 tall top. Having a real one would make the perfect companion to go along with the pair I made out of salt shakers for my Giant Gila Monster diorama, which match the ones used in the movie.
Hey i remember that movie mark, it was sad they destroyed the highboy in the end with nitro driving it into the gila monster.... low budget movie.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Not today, because I slept all day in preparation for work tonight, but Sunday afternoon and evening. Had a successful junkyard run, and got some progress on disassembly of the parts donor truck.
Junkyard score: '85 1 Ton Chevy front, and '86 Iroc Z rear. Engine is almost ready to yank, just got to wheel it into the shop and get underneath. Got the bench out, and it really isn't in too bad of shape. Just needs a new cover. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished fabrication of radiusing the rear bed rails
Filled the stock tailgate latch openings, added the 1-1/2" pipe extensions, fit-up, welded and ground everything flush. Worked out pretty well. Probably 12-15 hours worth of work in total. |
