the wife left the fan outside so I had to hide in my time out corner to primer it, otherwise it was wayyyyy toooo windy AGAIN

FYI the sheet metal I got was galvanized (that's all Home Depot had) so I washed it in Phosphoric acid, then neutralized it with Baking Soda water, then sanded it off, then etched it with Phosphoric acid again, and washed it off with Baking Soda water for the second time.

If you dont wanna see the ends of the rivets you could use steel stud screws, with the big flat head, and speed nuts on the backside. Nobody is gonna look in the glove box though and rivets are not sharp on the backside.

Thanks, I am constantly balancing between Make It Nice and Just Git 'er Done! know what I mean, but I do appreciate the advice.

I already have Pontiac Mike my buddy breathing down my neck saying rivet from the inside out to make it look mo bettah on the inside, (but that's hard and I don't know if that cheap rivet plier gun vice grip thing will even fit) so once it is painted I will make a Game Time decision

Man I ain't gonna lie today was one of them days

I spent the first 4 hours just spinning my wheels in the garage, then my soldering iron gave up the ghost, I guess doing all that re wiring wore her out, funny thing is this was my second iron, the first one lasted me 20 years and was the serviceable kind but like an idiot I tossed it and bought this one which barely made it two years and instead of having three tiny screws to open her up they popped in a rivette, oh well I already bought my third

in hind sight I should have gone to a Thrift Store and bought an old fashion one for like .99 cents and had it for another 20 years, I may still do that, Oh Well(er)

here I decided to wash the worst of the three buckets, yes I own three seats just like this one, this one was the dirtiest of them all so I finger if I can clean this one than maybe I can clean the others

plus I need something to sit on while the other two go to the leather house and who knows when I'll get them back

here I am using the orange stuff with plum juice

so I went to start her today for the first time since looming the entire engine wiring harness and buttoning her up for the last(ish) time

and she would crank but not start

my heart sank, miles of wires hidden in yards of conduit ran through my mind, I dreaded the idea of having to troubleshoot all of that

then I calmed myself down and said: When dealing with LSes You know it comes down to three things right?

1. grounds
2. Grounds
3. GROUNDS

so I eyeballed the ground boundle, and I wiggled it with my hand, yup, nice and tight, started to pull up on them one by one, and the last one ended up in my hand

yup Professor Silky Smooth hide the wiring loom under the engine forgot to ground the separate trick PCM branch, no worries it was only 19 ground wires bundled into one, ha ha

so grounded those, and she winked at me and fired right up

We'll call that the Anti Theft Device.

I like my Weller, and she fired up. Forget about the stuff before that, she fired up!!! Oh that'll be the day...

put the Grant wheel back on today and made sure everything worked, it's a simple setup with only a turn signal cam and a horn

apparently the kit I had for it only covered all GM cars from 1812 till present but not the 58-62 Impala so I had to buy a different one

nothing like grinding your new paint off the steering wheel to make it go Beep Beep!

First Fill Up! Well 10 gallons just to see if the fuel gauge works, it was reading Empty before.

gas prices or not ... if someone ever convinced me and paid me enough to move to CA, (not actually possible) i'd be driving something pre-73 with a blower out the hood and a bumper stick "suck my exhaust"

Well Forumners dare I say everything electronic works:

1. Headlights (both high and low beam)
2. Parking Lights (as front turn signals I put orange bulbs in 'em)
3. Tail Lights
4. Brake Lights
5. Reverse Lights
6. Brake Lights (as rear turn signals)
7. Dome Light
8. Gauge Lights

9. Horn (yeah I know, this may be like the first truck with a horn I ever owned) and yes it's got it's own relay

10. TCC aka the Torque Converter Clutch (this one was tricky because our trucks have an old style brake light switch so I used a reverse wired relay) and no I did not follow this guys video, lol

How to wire TCC for PCM, ECM, ECU with break light positive. (RELAY) though using all red wire probably does save you some money, ha ha

I am so happy, and I am so grateful for all you guys and gals for following along and encouraging me when I got down.
