1963 C-10 in NC

Looks like you got a pretty good hood to work with should look good when done I know I spent a while on mine one of the biggest panels to sand

I have the original hood still, but it needs twice the work of this one. This one came off an old forum members truck ol general lee when he was quote " t-boned by an unregistered democrat". He was able to purchase the total truck and I got the hood and bed (for a trailer project).
The original hood is now on my 63 short fleet that needed a hood as its original is in even worse shape.

Couple of pics of the "new" spotlight on the correct shaft. Opted for the small black handle over the long white one I was running originally.

I'm really liking this one better than the S-6 model.

Its not much smaller than the S-6, but maybe an inch or so. It's more correct than the S-6 also, but I haven't found the correct CH model for less than $400-$600. Unfortunately we have to contend with the 58 car guys for these.

Also an update on a little project I worked on last week. I had to convert to the V8 style linkage for the big block. The factory small block linkage will work just fine and leaves plenty of adjustment.

The issue I had and saw on several potential donar linkages was that the metal rod starts to distort the hole in the accelerator bracket that mounts to the firewall.

What I did to fix this was to drill it out one size larger and added a 55-57 GM car linkage bushing in. I did have to trim the bushing down (just used a razor blade and trimmed around 1/4" off) so the cotter pin would still fit through. Took maybe 15min total but it works really smooth now. Will install tonight if not off late.

Nice thing is the bushings are readily available, so if it ever breaks or wears out its an easy fix to replace.

Thanks Marke....me too. Not sure how much I'll use the auxiliary mirror, but until the extra funds permit and I can locate a correct CH head it'll work just fine. Looking forward to the reinstall and checking out the new look.

Do you have any interest in two S-6 heads with long shafts....I believe around 15" shafts. I don't have any use for the S-6 parts anymore. Also have a long white handle and cap.....someone needed one, just can't remember who.

Thanks for the consideration, but I've already got a bunch of spare S6 parts waiting for someone to need them. Those CH heads a really beautiful, but well beyond my budget. I'm afraid I'll just have to admire them from afar!

After disassembly on both models, they put far more time and money into the CH models. It is much heavier in design and just better quality in my opinion.

They will both function the same as all the parts are interchangeable, minus the head units. But I just prefer the look of the CH model. I'd love to have the correct CH, but it'll be way off and have to be a good deal to make it work.

One thing I do like about this model is the mirror on the back is not fixed like a lot of the ones I've seen. It has quite a bit of adjustment to it.

And I'll find homes for the other two units since your good on parts.

Not much to update today. The energy suspension trailing arm and panhard bushings came in. So I can add dropping the rear end to the list now.

Have new springs and shocks to install also and the posi conversion to do.

Thanks Aggie91. A lot of it is small stuff, but I guess it all adds up. I think with the bushing installed it removes the metal to metal contact and should feel a little smoother through the pedal.

Yes sir. Been off work late every night this week which has delayed my hood work. But off at 5 tonight and will be out there once I get the sprinkler set up on the garden. Garden got bumped up from 200sq feet to almost 500sq feet this year.

Yeah, mine will probably be larger next year. Also have around 40 fruit trees in the yard.

Ok, 3/8" tank to fuel pump hard line ordered from Inline tubes.

And after many hours or repair, the weekend finally came to get paint on the hood and the driver side fender extension.

So I was finally able to pull of the NOS park light lens that I've had squirreled away forever.

Also took the 63's OEM assemblies, cleaned them up and got a coat of white on the insides. Will complete the assemblies tonight when I'm off work. Then I need to flip the hood, install the new hood seals and rubbers, bed line the underside and get it mounted.
