Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks Dwayne. I like that avatar.

I took some parts to the powder coater today after work. He's going to do my hood hinges, inner fenders, passenger seat brackets,e brake handle, dash pc under the steering column, door panel upper trim, and another piece for putting a bicycle in the back of the truck, and one support rod for the bed side. I only had one. I gotta look for another. The hinges will be done tomorrow or Wednesday hopefully. The other stuff can wait a week or two since I don't need them until the truck starts going back together.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Cool!

I put the filler cover in tonight. I just put a few welds around it to the bedside. I'll seam seal it to the bedside and the body shop can do it it around the floor since the floor will be bed lined the same color as the truck. I think they'll have it apart when they do it. I'm having trouble with the paint on the fenders. It just isn't turning out good. I did the drivers side tonight. I hope it turns out better than the pass. side. I may have to paint the fenders and hood after I get it back and its warmer. The beds getting closer to being done though.

OMG I wish I hadn't started doing it so late. It takes a lot of time and I'm on a time crunch. I don't think I'll do another one.

I've still got a ways to go. I've been working late the last few nights so its at a standstill. My parts are ready to be picked up at the powder coater but I've been working late. Lightening keeps me busy.. And its storming now..

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks guys! I got a little done today/tonight. I got the fenders on and seam sealed a little of the fill tube in the bed. It looks like I put a lot on it buts not. Its just spread out. I started drilling the holes for the trim on the rear and soon realized that I needed a new bit. I got a plate bracket off of a s10 blazer. I had to drill a couple holes to make it work but it works good.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I got my holes drilled for the rear trim.. I also got my porter built hinges installed. I cleaned up some of the wiring near the battery box and on the drivers side. I still need to clean up the engine harness. I'm gonna wait to paint the under side of the hood and fenders until I get the truck back from the painter. I may get them to do it. I also am thinking of mounting a bike holder in the bed.

That's a cool idea. Where'd you get the bracket from? Or is that something you made?

Thanks. It was actual in the bottom of the box that my bike was shipped in. I kept it for this reason. The box it was shipped in was huge and very sturdy. I forgot the name of the box but I think the brand is widely used for shipping bikes.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can't find something similar. We usually take the 71 when we go bike riding. There aren't any trails nearby, or none that we want to ride anyway. It would be nice to mount them instead of laying them on top of each other. You've inspired me to look into this now, so thanks!

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks to Rus for coming up and helping me put my hood and bed on. I need to get the spacers for my cab that weren't in the kit I had. Then I can start lining things up.
