Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I did some measuring and more measuring. Now I have a pretty good idea where my engine and transmission is going to sit. It helped when I decided to go with a pusher fan in front of the radiator.
Now to mock it all up and make motor mounts.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

we mounted the cab, hung the doors, tried to fit the front clip but due to some older front end collision damage, it's going to take a little massaging to make it all work properly. We installed the Rebel wire fuse panel and ran all the wires to their future homes and also went through the chassis from front to back re-chcecking every nut, bolt, grease nipple, cotter pin, etc to make sure it's all there. It was a pretty productive few days off and I have 3 more to go. I'd like to think I could get the wiring damn near done before I go back to work

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I installed my LED tail lights, hooked up the wiring and every thing works! I also put on my windshield wiper arms, but I had the under the dash arms on the wrong things making the wipers go the wrong way! I corrected that painstakingly and that's fine now, of course I checked the direction before putting the arms on~ that would have been disastrous!

Thanks Chevette.

Bit-by-bit, bit-by-bit man....but not tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm going to the Dodgers game with my 90 year old mother in law. Cracks me up that she's game to go at her age.

Adjusted the carb and drove the heck out of it. I've been camping at the Raceway for the Portland Swap Meet for 4 days and had the urge to put some miles on it!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

After a bunch of setbacks - i finally was able to re- take my heads to a different machine shop. first one went out of business.
With only 27;000 miles on the engine - heads were pretty shot - now i will pull the engine out again and go thru it . i have no idea what happened - if the heads were that bad i want to refresh the engine - -all i want to do is drive it - i dont think i am asking for too much.............

Not mine! I've done the derelict-in-the driveway deal and it sucked. I don't have room for it anyway in this house. So I intend to get it exactly where I want it mechanically and even cosmetically with the exception of paint.

After I retire I plan to blow it all apart for REAL paint. In the meantime I don't plan to do any single improvement that will keep it un-drivable for longer than a couple weeks at most.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I started hanging some body panels back on the frame. Then cut the inner fenders on the back for a tub

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

THat black border is just spruce 1 x 4 painted black with Tremclad water based paint and a brush. Then we air nailed it all up. The tub was a result of sizing the tires down from a 275 to a 255 and them still not fitting. I forgot that this axle is almost 2" shorter than the stock truck axle which in turn causes the ties to be closer inwards. So my son and I took a few different measurements, marked the tub and cut it. I'm hoping I can have it all fabbed and installed this week, but finishing the wiring is priority 1 this week

After a few setbacks, got the alternator bracket in and mounted. Put in the dash cluster and dash pad. The Ron Davis radiator was shipped today, so next week this baby should be ready to fire up. Oh' and after the third set of exhaust manifolds as well.....LOL

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Today, since the diff was out I took the housing out to repaint it and since the shocks needed to be disconnected I pulled out the upper shock mount to give it a coat of paint also.
