Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Built and installed a crossmember for the 700R4 trans I installed along with a 350 last week. Will post some pictures when i get a chance, but it was a walk in the park, really pretty easy.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I took my truck apart. Really apart. Yesterday, the truck had a cab (minus the doors), front clip, engine & transmission. Now, its just a frame with the front suspension & rear suspension.
I cut the BBW roof off the cab, and put off to the side. The windshield went into the garbage, everything else in a dumpster full of scrap metal. Now I guess I have to start putting it back together

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
On my 65, located and fixed break in wire for my pass side tailight. Installed adapter so I can use a screw on oil filter. Removed, repainted and reinstalled valve covers and put on new gaskets. Replaced belts and hoses. Installed new H2O pump. Changed anti- freeze. Replaced a couple of dash board lights. Lubed front end. Installed the original air cleaner housing. Found where my headlight pigtail had come loose from the main wiring harness...now I have headlights. Removed floor rubber....yuck...and now have my projects lined up for next week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Watched my 16 year old daughter and her 46 year truck head off to the first day of school. She has been waiting for this day for over a year and a half now.
It does not seem that long ago we towed the 64 home after she and my wife found it on craigslist. Things are not done yet but enough to let her drive it for a while. See "Bubbas Recycling Project" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=365170 for full story. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed some "Speedway" rubber hood latches to hold the tailgate shut. The thought here is the elastic nature of the latch should help to minize tailgate rattling. Also added urethane tailgate trunnions.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I haven’t been able to drive my truck for most of a month because of a hand injury, the shifter requiring more pressure than I can exert. So, I asked my son to machine up a new handle out of round stock 2.5” longer than the previous version. My wife installed it for me this morning. This reduced the shifting pressure by about 40%, so I should be back behind wheel shortly. I was a little concerned it would look goofy being this long, but after studying it for a while, it seems to look more natural than the shorter stick.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
finished up my brake job today. New brake lines on the front, adjusted and bled them, Swapped my leaky carb for a fresh rebuilt one. I also Put on a fuel filter, my tailgate and tried hooking up some brake lights. I think I have a short on them because they are not working properly. I also went to the DMV to see what it is going to cost me to transfer title and register my truck. After all of this today my truck wont start at all. Hey I got alot of work done though

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I purchased (2) cab air vents off Ebay and (being a retired CAD monkey) designed a surround to instal them into the back of the cab. They go in the back of the cab behind the seats and have flaps on them to prevent air, water & debri from entering the cab, but allow air to flow out of the cab.
I like to think of it as "Astro Ventilation" for my old '65. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My cab is so air tight it’s difficult to close the doors without slamming, unless a vent window is left open. In the garage, this is what I do, and then push the vent window shut after the doors are closed, which isn’t very practical when left in public. I studied off and on for several years looking for a one way vent but never came up with a workable concept. I thought about installing the elusive one way valve in the kick panels since I no longer use the fresh air vents, but never came up with anything suitable. That wouldn't work any longer anyway because of the upholstery.
Yet again you’ve pioneered another great solution, thanks for sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished install. Also, are those vents off a production vehicle, and if so do you know what they came from? I’m curious if those could be installed on the floor under the seats, or if they need to be mounted vertically in a protected area like the back of the cab.
