Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
i know it is a little petty thing but with the work you have put in , i think those bolts through the bed floor need to have a round head instead of the hex head to blend in better, maybe a round allen headed bolt ?

Since I am planning on using the truck, I figured it was insane to spend $1000 on a bed floor and then worry about denting or scratching it. Yes, I hope the truck is magazine worthy, but that is a secondary consideration to my using it everyday.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Tonight's episode begins with painting the radiator support and new radiator mount satin black. A few more coats tomorrow and it will be ready to assemble.
Then I moved on to the shift linkage. I welded and extension on the shift ear I cut off to clear the brake booster, then assembled the Kugal stainless steel shift linkage. http://www.kugelkomponents.com/zenca...&products_id=6 I very carefully fit and adjusted, then shortened the rod twice so as not to cut too much off at once. The throw is now perfect and I get all gears to click nicely, it even lines up on the column indicator right. Then I read the wiring diagram and ended up only needing one wire on the right electrical block -green temp sensor wire for gauge. I may want the switched brown wire for something, so I left it for now.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Are you keeping the mechanical fan or going with an electric set-up? sorry if you already answered this but that chip in the fan blade made me think about it, haha.

These pics are more fun to look at.
Where do these little square rubber blocks go? They came with my tailgate bumpers kit.

Wow, I love this project!
I miss my 99 Crew Cab Dually terribly. Great idea's with cab configuration, drive train choice's and even the new factory style wheels. Surely magazine material and reliable daily driver. Subscribing! ![]()

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
WOW! Took me a whole week to get through the entire thread. You do top notch work! I have kicked around the idea of doing something similar. So now I have a step by step guide! I know its a little premature, but I was wondering if you have kept track of total cost? It would be interesting to compare the differance between the cost of buying a new truck, and what you have done. Again, Awesome work!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Got to have a go pedal!
Call me a weirdie, but being a pack-rat comes in handy when you need to blend vehicles together. I cut the tip of the new pedal off and welded it to the old pedal rod since it had the perfect end hole to mate up with the new truck throttle linkage. Now the rod end and cable are back together once again. Clean up and paint.
