Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
i went out to pick in pull to get the delay module for the wipers and i picked up some factory rear speaker mounts with the factory covers in perfect shape. i also got an '86 wiper motor without the pump and installed. i need to take pics of the speaker mounts still. i'm trying to figure out how to get the wiring harness to fit and stay up in the groove of the firewall. i'm not sure what i'm going to do yet. here's a couple pics of what i'm talking about...

That first pic cracks me up. It's like you're praying to the wiring gods for them to give you some slack. Lmao

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Gauges look good Dennis...I am assuming you don't need brackets then?
I'd ditch those 4x10 brackets and get some, say 6x9 brackets They'll sound a lot better. Also, the last guy here on the site to post pics with his bare feet in them got grief for quite some time, his name was Dave, but we all called him crank toes.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Looks like the fit in there good. Which ones are they? (gauges that is) Autometer or xxx 2-1/8"
On you wiring idea down the lip, it is probably to late for this since the cab is painted, but I plan to weld tabs down the length (like under the dash) and roll them up on the bundle.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
If you can drill a small hole, you can use a loom clip to hold it in place (like what holds the wire loom to the inside of the fender, etc.). Drilling the holes might be a challenge, though.

that is a good idea and 1 i had thought of just tooooo late Quote:
thanks John! i ordered the rest of the gauges today! should be here tomorrow or the next day. i also ordered a sweet looking wilwood master cylinder so i can get the brake system finished up here's a few progress pics from today. i built the switching valve/fuel pump harness from scratch!!! turned out very nice! took about 8 hours but its well worth it. all the connections are factory weather pack connectors and the few splices i had to make are all soldered, shrink wrapped, taped, wire loomed, and mounted!
