Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Small job, but another done. Finished the gasket for the hood / latch seal. Used the original as a template. And an empty .357 shell case to punch out the holes. A .38 special would work good also for this size hole.

The original clips were in great condition so they got 2 coats of aluminum engine enamel to top them off after a good cleaning.

Thanks a bunch. Didn't get anything done last night. We went under a flash flood warning. Got 4.5" rain in just 2 hours and had water a foot over my road.

Will try again tonight.

Oh crap sorry. I scrolled up and saw the pic of the hood upside down on sawhorses and assumed you hadn't posted the ones of it installed. That's what I get for assuming. Made an ass of myself. HA

No problem. I back pedaled some to show the install of the hood sponges.

Thanks a bunch. Will definitely be keeping this one and the next.

I keep going forward with small progress, but its getting done. Those damn hood latch seal clips gave me hell last night. Ran out of light, so will go out and try again tonight.

Man that thing is beautiful! Love the newest photos with the hood in place. Really starting to look like a finished truck now. All the shiny aluminum, chrome, and stainless really makes the color pop. Looking forward to some videos showing it on the road and how that big block sounds!

Thanks a bunch Marke......I will be glad to finish this one off and get started on the fleetside. Its hard to not stop and go work on it. But I've got to stay focused. If I haven't heard from American Autowire by tomorrow I'll call them. It's my only hang up to turning the engine over at this point. I want the truck on the road by July even if the beds not painted.

And videos will definitely get posted!!!

Link to July 4th BBQ : http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=673515

I'll be having a bbq at our place on July 4th and am inviting any members that would like to attend. You are welcome to come over anytime after 12. Food will kick off around 3-4pm and we will be doing a bonfire later in the evening for those that choose to hang out that long.

We have several locals coming over from several counties with trucks from multiple years.

If your trucks up and running please bring it with you. If not, please don't let it stop you from coming. And all classic cars/trucks are welcome. Bring the family or a guest if you'd like.

We will supply the bbq and sodas, ice/cups/coolers for drinks. We do ask that you bring your own beer and chairs with you. If you'd like to bring a dish, bag of chips or a dessert you are most welcome too.

I have two acres, so plenty of room to park.

Please PM me for directions and post to the regional thread (link above) to let me know who is coming and how many people coming with you. And please ask any questions.

I am in Fayetteville, NC, only 10 minutes off I-95.

I will have more updates as they come. Hope to see you there.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Got the stainless brake lines run this weekend. A lot of adjustments on the pre bent kit, but was able to get it all to work. Went ahead and DEI wrapped all the lines close to the headers just to be sure the fluid doesn't get to hot. The ceramic coated headers are supposed to help retain heat inside the exhaust and not out, so we should be good.

Did have to go get fittings from the calipers to the front lines and had to order a 3/8" - 3AN fitting to go from the front to rear line to the soft line that goes over the rear diff. (fitting should be in this week).

Should be able to pressurize and bleed this system this week, and will do the clutch at the same time.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Also got all the fuel / coolant fittings snugged up. Started to fill coolant sytem...ran out of antifreeze, so I have 4 gallons in the system. Will finish topping off tonight. Was near 100* yesterday and just didn't feel like driving to the parts store.

Also go the air cleaner installed. Plenty of clearance on the 5" K&N.

And lastly started the final polish on the old Edelbrock valve covers I started a year or so ago. Will have this project done this week also.

Will try and get the engine bay cleaned up this week now that hoods back on and most of my engine bay projects are done.

Pics for The Rocknrod

Hood bumpers, all the big parts companies have them. I tend to use Classic Industries, Truck shop of Ca or Brothers for most things. But LMC & Classic parts carry them also.

The back ones are held in w/rivets. The fronts just have a phillips screw in them.

Long time no see stranger.....been holding the fort down while you were gone.

No I underlined the bottom of the hood on purpose and correct, not how the factory did it. I meant to remove the rubber mounts and forgot. No biggie....its an easy fix.

Also...no dice on the breather rebuild. Was a breather destroy job. Any leads on a twist in OEM AC breather?
