I've been mulling this over. I'll bet an automotive trim product would work pretty well like 303 protectant or easier and cheaper would be Stoner trim shine. You'd have to try it in an out of the way area to make sure it didn't make it too slippery. Spray on and wipe off would probably do it. For it to stay shiny though, you might have to do it pretty frequently, but maybe it will soak in and start to hold up after a few uses.

If the top surface is wood you should be able to use any finish made for wood. I could be wrong. I guess you could look into it on your computer to be sure

I've milled a lot of wood and in my experience it takes about a year per inch thickness to air dry for most wood some longer .If you rush it after its milled it will develop sever cracks. I made the mistake of making a bench out of ash that had been standing dead for years without proper drying it developed sever cracks .

My drying is usually 2 years and then move the wood into the house and let it acclimate for a few weeks before taking a saw to it . This oak will take at least 3 years to dry ,it was cut down in spring 2000 left in 10 ft log length and milled last month and was still wet. Even sealing the ends it cracked severely on the ends so I had to cut a ft off each end milled then seal it again . It's now stickered and weighted in my barn

I'll try that. I really don't want to tear it out. The flooring is only a few years old. But it looks terrible when it's all dull.

I don't want it slippery either. Years ago I had a cleaning lady and I don't know what she used to clean the shower but it was like ice when she was done. I slipped and cracked a rib once trying to get out.

I would contact the manufacturer even cheap laminate has at least a 5 to 10 year warranty.

My friends wife thought it would be a good idea using pledge spray wax on the stairs and floors . Her husband went down three steps and slid the rest of the way breaking his wrist and dislocating his shoulder . Sox and wax should never mix .

I have no idea who the manufacturer is. A contractor had just put it in when we bought the place. Probably the cheapest cr@p that he could find.

It sounds like your buddy went down hard. That smarts. When I went down I tried to grab the towel rack which immediately ripped out of the wall and down I went on the side of the tub.

I was just lucky that the entire time my ribs were cracked that I didn't have to sneeze. That would have been worse than the fall.

I put some polyurethane on some test spots today and it seems to be working.

I've also been digging out my cellar and I think about your new foundation project. This is all handwork, no skid loader, shovel and bucket. I just began going down another 6".

Your building on truck picture reminds me of just a roof we set on a '40 Chevy flatbed and moved to my friend's place. I'm sure he has pictures. It was a sight going down the road. I believe it was at least 12' wide.

hi Special K,The big wide slabs were from some big old 150 year old trees from downtown Halifax that were damaged in a storm.i wasn't there when they came down,a buddy who does that work dropped them off in my driveway when i told him i needed a couple stumps for some anvils?way too big for what i wanted so i made them into slabs.i thought they were elm and the guy who sawed them up thought so as well,but i don't know.no idea on what the darker narrower,longer boards are??they make a bench,that's all i know?take care.Greg

And of course I started the Dodge today and the manifold grid heaters weren’t working correctly . Solenoid cycled but the amp meter didn’t move usually the meter goes down from 12v to around 8v . After it started the ck engine light came on code Grid heater performance . Found the positive from the battery terminal corroded off the lug . And of course the nut wouldn’t come free and the post started spinning . $28 for a new one be here on Saturday .

The grid thing is mostly an EPA thing so the fuel burns cleaner in cold temps .

Yea, I'm 65 Pony over there. I have a 65 coupe - 289 5 spd, and my wife dailies a 2011 V6 pony package car we bought brand new and we both switch out the SUV depending on who has to pick up James that day.
