Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Great pics.

Rian and Martin are a trip.
It was great to get to hang out with you guys on Friday and for a while on Saturday at Clem's.
Met some really nice truck folks up there.
I left out before you did, but still got to visit with several truck builders.

That was the longest trip for me in the vette since I got it. Also first time to drive it after dark and first time to get the front end covered in bugs. But worth it, the "Pig Trail" was a blast.

Clem's shop is the coolest ever. I need to see about getting 60-66 Chevy truck to be cool like you guys.

Sorry to hear about your broke leg. Take care brother, I'll be praying for your quick recovery.

Thanks for the well-wishes guyz...
Good news on my leg...

Ortho doc put a taller walking boot on... it seems to be more supportive and easier to walk in. More x-rays in 2 weeks and the walking boot for minimum of 6 weeks...

Now that you got a new pair of boots from the doc you can go jogging.

Glad the recovery is going well.

Thanks again Guyz!!!

I had to highlight Clem's post due to the "old dogs" reference...

A little back story to catch you up on what's been happening in my world...
To assist in financing my addiction to ol trucks I reverted to my younger days and landed a second job... I now wear a green shirt and push auto parts... the parts discount incentive is pretty cool also.. Here's where the "old dogs" comment comes in... Last Thursday, the fateful day, at 0600 I stepped outside to wLk our little dog JoJo... in my foggy head I wasn't paying attention as he walked through a flower bed and as I attempted to follow I stepped on a landscape timber that was no longer secured... it rolled and my ankle and leg rolled with it as I fell back and twisted to keep from landing in a rose bush. I immediately stood and knew I'd sprained my ankle at the very least. I went back inside and had my lovely wife wrap my ankle... by "0700 I was at O'Reillys ready to work, albeit moving slowly. Thankfully I have an understanding manager who gave me the leeway to take my time. I worked until 1230 on what I assumed to be a sprained ankle. Friday I woke to a little more discomfort than the previous day, I had my first tattoo appointment cancel, so I went to see my doc for a better checkup since the pain was a dull ache above my ankle... A couple of x-rays later and I find the leg is broke and a follow up appt with an orthopedic doc was scheduled for Monday...
Fast forward to Monday after the dr visit... The Fibula (smaller non-weight bearing bone) was broken just above the ankle. Good news, no resetting or surgery required... and a taller walking boot was strapped on. 6 weeks till this boot and I can part ways.
Long story short, this old dog worked with a broke leg and thanks to God, I am healing nicely and able to continue daily with work, although I am moving slower than normal...

i hope your legs heals quickly for you. One thing my Dad always told me "the older you get the longer it takes for your bones to mend." Very true statement

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Thanx mate...
Sent you an email preview earlier, but had to post up tonight...

Ever since meeting Martin last year, I knew he was longing for a 60 or 61 dual headlight grille... I was aware Clem had offered him one, and he declined...so when I heard of a 61 grille with 4 new headlights for $50 I shot him a text... he declined due to logistics and shipping costs.
After getting a pic from the guy who had the grille, I decided to check it out for myself... Unknowingly, we had met in the past when his stepdaughter worked for my studio briefly. He's building a 63 SWB BBW.
This afternoon, he responded to a text about me coming to check out the grille and his truck, so a short 5 mile ride in the '72 and I was looking at his truck and checking out the '61 the grille was attached to... before I could even ask he offered me the '61 for $300...

No hood, no seat or tailgate, condition of the 6 banger unknown...
Here she is...

Remarkably straight, heater delete plates, perfect grille, dash pics?
Wonder what the bed floor is like with the canopy living on it.
More pics please, more pics,

Nice looking truck Don . Is it a long or short bed , it's hard to tell from the pictures with the canopy on . Still love the grill . Thanks for thinking of me and glad you ended up with the truck .

I haven't dragged it home yet, the camper shell has been in place for most of it's life... the interior of the bed is in good shape... don't know how I missed getting pics

SWB and other than the Rustina, the cab has rocker issues... dash looked intact as do the interior of the doors... More pics soon...
