Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST
Rick,
if it is stainless trim fine steel wool is ok, but I'd use a metal polish such as Mothers. You can find it in O'Reilly's/Kragens. If it is the lighter aluminum trim, be careful. It has an anodized finish that will rub off to the bare aluminum. On the aluminum trim, the steel wool can do more damage, quicker. It can scratch and ultimately remove the anodized plating with a little unintentional effort. The metal polish can too, but it is a bit tougher to do so. Just rub with the metal polish compound until the polish turns black on the rag, then polish off with a soft dry cloth.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST
If the welds were ground, the hardened part should be gone... use a good bit, slow speed, penetrating oil (WD-40), and A LOT OF PATIENCE.
I have the 3 pc. step drill bit set from HF, and for 9 bucks those things have paid for them selves over and over and over again! I think that is the only thing that is worth anything at HF

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST
haha well i sanded where each hole should be and i see bumps and bodo cracks in the metal where they welded so im going to try and drill them out again. how would i get all of the weld bead of of the back of the metal? i can clip in my trim if it cant go around the metal and "clip in".

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST
I got hole locations. I could mail them to you, try to take a pic and hopefully my chicken scrathc shows up or try to explain them
do you kinda know where they go? I just measured horizontal measurements lol from left lip of tailgate to center of hole (edge of gate 11/16" to hole A-9" to hole B-9" to hole b-9 1/2" to hole b) passenger side is symmetrical to the drivers side Hole B is 5/16" hole diameter (my truck been repainted it was a tad tight but i believe thats the right size, you may double check yourself though (do a smaller hole) hole A (on far right/left sides of gate is unknown in this equation because i forgot lol brb)

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST
Holes A are 7/32" in diameter (holes on far right/left 11/16" from the lip of the tailgate)
