Hey Dan,
You're painting is outstanding as is your line bending. I like your eye for detail, it'll pay off. Your work is very very good. Nice job Morrie

Cab was sanded today for its final 3 clear coats. When the front fenders, hood and valances above & below the grill get to the same point and are sprayed the cab can be returned for final assembly. Not sure how soon this will be done though the fenders have been painted. They were in a darker room and look VERY burgundy to me. The truck will be burgundy to everyone at night, but i kinda like that!

I hope so, Kim. I'm getting antsy to have it done.

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
Very nice Dan! Is that a straight red or does it have metallic? Sorry but hard to tell on my old CRT monitor lol
I'm a little bit scared for the rest of your parts the way they are stored tho...

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
Hi Bob,
No metallic in the paint, I didn't want a modern appearing metallic paint job. Yeah, the parts are very crowded in Marcos' shop. But so far so good. He hasn't damaged anything. Thanks for the kind words, Dan

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
FRIDAY, MARCH31, 2017
As I predicted, it's APRIL 1st and the truck paint isn't done as I'd asked the body shop to do. BUT, the good news is the cab and doors have been final cleared and look FANTASTIC! I'm really really pleased with how the extra clear makes the paint look. (Apologies, no pics. My phone won't charge - charging port is messed up. A new one is coming but it'll take a week - ugh. Can't complain though, it's agency-provided). The cab underside & inside fenders will be shot with bedliner next week. (They did it 4/1) The chassis will be home to me next week so Mike has extra shop room. It goes to the body shop Fri. So cab, doors & front clip will be final mounted. Then back for wiring and exhaust once the bed is done.

The chassis is on it's way home to me as I write this. Hopefully it gets here undamaged, unscratched and I can manhandle it down my 100 ft long single driveway alone with no steering column on it! Time will tell.

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
Yup, pleased.
It was VERY easy to move. So light that the tow truck driver and I lifted the rear end of the frame and moved the chassis over a couple inches while it was still on the truck! It may not be the fastest truck out there when its done but its gonna be plenty quick enough for me. I've been driving a Toyota hybrid or a stock diesel the last 8-10 years. It'll probably fee like a missile, ha ha.

Chassis looks good Dan! Nice weather, comfy lawn chair and chilled beverage of choice to sit down and just stare at it for awhile.

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
Feels like Chinese water torture....but yes, I suppose so.
I'll stop by the paint shop today or tomorrow to (hopefully) finalize a date to send the chassis to them. Also have to drive out to The Truck Shop in Orange for new cab mounts and I suppose body shims/bolts to mount the front clip. (I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know how many/what kinds of nuts & bolts to provide.)

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window
Dan they should have a pre-packaged bag of bolts shims etc just for that purpose.
While you have the chassis home could you do me a small favor? Can you measure how far the mounting points for the lower control arm are below the bottom of the frame? Thanks!

Re: Danny Boy is BAACK! w/ '55 Big Window

New photos, pretty much the same as prior ones but I'm "in love" with it so I can't NOT take pictures, ha ha. This is the only real new one. The hood being masked for painting the outside 3-3-3 of base-clear-clear This is the only one that is kind of the accurate color. It's a bit dark but a LOT more accurate than the orang-ruste looking ones in the other photos. Summary The chassis will get flat bedded to the body shop on Monday 4/10 to mount the cab. Then the whole thing goes back to Mike's shop for wiring/start-up - at least this is what the bodyman proposes. Marcos says the wires to the front clip and rear of bed will be run for length, then rolled up and secured til the front clip and bed are mounted. Then they get terminated at the headlights, signals, tail lights, etc. - does this sound like the "right" or an ok approach to you guys?
