Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well I totally screwed up on my patina faux tina paint job I had the paint just where I wanted it but I decided to experiment and oh my god what was I thinking it looked better in the can. I can repaint it no biggie, well it looks like I'll have to live with it over winter. Thats going to be a long winter looking at that color.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Even if you’re not happy with the color, you can be pleased the truck looks great and has protection on it during the winter months.
I had a color problem many years ago on my 49 Plymouth. Instead of buying the good paint for $20 a gallon at an auto paint store, I bought a gallon of what claimed to be 1965 Mustang Twilight Turquoise at the local Standard Brands. This was a discount chain store that offered really cheap paint. I mixed it up and sprayed it in a dark garage with one bare light bulb. As it was going on it seemed to look okay. So I opened the door to proudly display my handiwork, and everybody that came out to look either gagged or started laughing. Far from Twilight Turquoise, it was a hideous bright grass green. The picture doesn’t come close to doing it justice. It looked much worse in real life. That was the last time I ever used $10 a gallon off brand paint or sprayed in the dark. It was suppose to look something like this: Instead it ended up looking like this: |

Today we put the wheels & tires on my daughters' truck that we picked up from 66GTO last weekend. Looks much better! Here's the before & after.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That certainly appears to be a snug fit. Must be entertaining getting in and out of the window! Or do you push it into the garage from outside the truck? Too bad you can't play with it everyday, but better to protect it from being ruined. Looks similar to what I did with mine last year, but your garage looks much more durable than what I had available.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thank god it's a stepside otherwise it wouldn't be possible to get out :-) What you did to your truck looks even more professional. I only have this old garage from the 1920s. Unfortunately it's only possible to store the truck - no chance to do repair work or other stuff. I am looking for a barn to rent for a long time now but none available currently.
So what, ..... it stays until the snow and salt is away from the streets and in the meanwhile it's time to purchase parts to get it improved for next season. Quote:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
It actually went to a small space heater in the cab set to "frost watch". When we first moved to Idaho 17 years ago surface corrosion started forming in the cab during that first long unprotected winter outdoors. Last year was the first time it spent the winter months outside again. The heater kept everything dry, the upholstery nice and pliable and all the paint and chrome nice and shiny. Now that I'm retired it will most likely be staying in the garage from now on.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well its been a busy weekend, I'm trying to beat the winter weather when it gets here to Indiana. I sanded the truck down trying to create a Patina look, a faux tina if you will. I think once I get the truck together I can blend the paint and rusty areas better. I'm liking this color a lot better the the aqua I made on my last batch. Well take a look and let me know what you think Thanks Jeff in indy by the way I collect political signs I hate Hillary and Obama, I even have a Perot sign,

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
In spite of sitting here bunkered up in a howling snow storm at 16 degrees, it’s been a good day. My new front wheels showed up earlier this evening. 15x7 American TTO’s exactly like the rear wheels. I just haven’t been all that happy with the 15x5’s in front for a long time. Now I just have to get them painted, tires swapped over, and wait for spring so I can put them on!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
...finally got my driveline installed onto the chassis. Driveshaft from Drivelines Inc. in Mission Viejo, CA.
...also, got my nitrous bottles back from hydrostatic testing and certification, and then restored them: paint and new labels.

I removed the inner fenders, heater, and other items connected to the firewall. I used my Dewalt impact driver for the first time...Man I love it! It was ripping those bolts out fast!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the floor stripped, busted some rust, then put a coat of POR15 over the mess. I will clean up the rest of the floor and coat the whole thing before I install Dynamat.
