The thing with a busy beaver is yours may not be the only pond they are workin'...
I promise these will be the last of winter this year. Winter came on kind of hard during the time I went missing. We got a storm where it snowed 8", then went to sleet , then snow, then, rain, back to snow. Them other snows and some sleet. First picture is the small glacier slowly slipping it's way off the roof. Got to get those snow birds installed. It sleeted pellets for hours. See how it just rolled and spilled onto that cinder block? That stuff didn't melt too fast and made walking hard to do. I kept a spot clear below the bird feeder. The one picture shows the shiny crust on the surface. The snows we had after that storm would just blow off with the first wind. That one picture showing the small deep holes in the snow outside the garage door are a mystery to me. I've noticed them in snow before. There appears to be a slight yellowish tint on some

The other end of the cost was the boat was down for 7 days as there were no 3600 parts on the west coast. Had to wait for a truck from Peoria. The parts at the time were almost twice the cost of a Pack for an EMD. Add in the cost of the boat being down an extra 9 days. 7 days for parts and 2 extra days of labor over replacing a Pack on an EMD. The turbo rebuild was done locally so we weren't being robbed by CAT on that. The cost of operation was very apparent as we had 2 sister tugs, one with the 3606's and one with a pair of 12-645 EMD's. Both tugs were repowered in the early 1990's They company sold the one with CATs in 2003 and the one with EMD's ran until 2015 when we retired it. The 3606 tug wasn't part of our regular fleet (the EMD tug was), but we got involved after it limped in on one engine when the turbo failed.

A little bitty sack of parts would cost me $500 and that was back in the early 1980s.

What you see is just outside the garage door on my stone driveway. Other than the perfectly round holes, what you are seeing is gravel that came up while shoveling. I thought the holes might be the sun heating the stones causing them to melt their way down, but the holes are round and once the stone sank in the sun wouldn't be hitting it, and these holes go all the way down. I've noticed them before but never said anything. I've noticed them outside of friend's garages as well

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
my daughter took this one of me, I don't recall why I was laughing, maybe she said: "hey dad mom wants to drive your truck" but we were having fun joking around, I like how this pic looks like it could have been from the 70s

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
No I was trying to take pictures of a pickup that we were looking at out in a snowstorm and accidently clicked a picture. So I figured that's a random picture and I took it.
We did buy the pickup for my daughter: 2002 Duramax. It got her all the way back to Michigan so it must be sort of okay

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
yes sir.the tides in a place called the Minas Basin in the Bay of Fundy, have been measured at 53 feet.there is a little 29 second video on youtube called
"Spring Tide Timelapse Hall's Harbour" it is a video taken about the same place that i took that picture, shows the boats all sitting in the mud,the tide comes in,floats all the boats, the water raises almost to the top of the wharf and then goes back out.i just looked out my living room window to see where the tide was and it's almost in.after a while,i'll take you a picture of the tide in,in 6 hours it's out and the beach goes forever then.take care.Greg |
