Bam did you have to push the bed side to side to get at it to paint in the booth?

Looks great Buddy!

Thanks man, No I did not. I could get around the bed without moving it. Now ask me about crawling around on a creeper on a wet floor to paint the hard to get to places.lol Also crawling under that front panel every time I had to paint the inside.lol 6 times total 3 coat base and 3 coats clear. Ask me if I'm still sore today.

Thanks man and picking a color was one of the hardest parts of this build for me. Once I sprayed it I liked it.

I keep having a vision of some walking buy and bump into them and the door getting distorted.
Thanks man I'm trying to get this thing done for summer. The mirrors are not hagan I brought them on ebay. No I did not use a backing plate. All of the support is in the mirrors base they screw into the base of the mirrors. They are simply for looks I like the way they look thats all. I have a big back window truck so I doubt I will ever use them for driving its much easier just to look through all that back window glass.lol

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Well I got the wood stained and protected.

Stained. I mixed three stains to come up with this color. It very close to the matching my seat. I like it.

To protect the wood I decided to use Total Boat Marine Gleam Varnish Gloss. I like it because you can do like 3 coats a day with an hour or 3 hours between
coats depending on the weather. I used a foam brush to apply it.

Thanks. Its red oak. I wanted walnut, and the lumber yard scared me when they gave me the price. Lumber is expensive, I did not save much by doing my own bed wood but I like it.

Thanks for the information. I just have the stock pine that came with the truck. Still has to be stained and cleared. I am a long ways away from where you are at. Steve

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Hey BAM

Everything looks great. We all knew it would though. Your work is always spot on.

Questions: How low is the lowest part (front of the door or back of the fender) of the truck from the ground? How close is your engine pan or transmission pan from the ground also?

Did you run spacers between the chassis and the cab - either solid or flexible and if so, what did you run?

Thanks man.

Your question as to the lowest part. I don't go by transmission and front or back of fenders. I go by front suspension cross member. because that is the lowest part under the truck. If that clears not problem with the trans. My cross member is 4 1/2 inches front the ground. That is with my a arms parallel with the ground.

Question 2. Yes I did have to shim (metal body shims) the cab in the front. It closed the gap at the bottom of my front fenders and door.

I hope this answered your question. If you really want that measurement that you ask for I could get them for you no problem but like I said I never measure for them. Your not wrong to do it that way, I just dont.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

I see. Makes sense. Sure, when u get around to it, that measurement (front of the bottom of the door to the ground) would be helpful.

Will do when I get home. Let me get this correct. You want the distance form the bottom of the rear fender right where it meets the door to the ground right?

Correct. You have the height and stance perfectly and want to see where I am in comparison. Need a visual reference for esthetics.
