Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Dropped my truck off at the body shop this morning so they can do some paint matching for the driver door, front fender, bed fender grille, cowl and bed steps that they will be painting. All body work is complete and the parts have been epoxy primed. They should be spraying the color either tomorrow or Monday. I have been waiting since October (dropped the parts off in early January), so I'm pretty excited to get these parts back.

Yea, I heard something like that on one of these threads someplace and I may have to give that a try.

Thanks.

I'm obviously not prepping the engine compartment for a car show, I just want to stop the rust from spreading.

Then I'll drive it with the hood down...nobody has to know how filthy and rusty it is under there.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Installed rear shocks, which was fun. Not. Odd fasteners, where one nut actually was nearly split in half and the bolts were way too short at 2 inches in length. So I replaced the lower shock Grade 5 hardware with Grade 8 that I got a Lowe's.

Now I think the shocks will stay on and I'll not be bust'n a nut ;-)

Seeing that I had soooo much fun with the rears, I am not really looking forward to the fronts. This is because I have to deal with OEM shocks where the upper stud is apart of the shock itself. Plus, if I need more Grade 8 bolts, I got the last two from Lowes! I can't remember the last time Lowes hardware section had their bins full.

Just a couple small jobs today; washed it. Adjusted the backup light switch and installed a new shift indicator. Fixed the pointer housing a couple of weeks back. Now I need to adjust the linkage so the pointer sits on the correct spot. Worn shifter bowl (I think) allows the pointer to drop down too far right now.

Make sure your detents on the column under the hood are good. Mine need too be welded up and reshaped. I'm in the process of building a tilt to replace it.

They’re not in good shape at all. One can just pull down and it’ll go all the way to D. I haven’t got a welder (only a torch) so it’s going to stay this way for the foreseeable future.

No, it’s from Eckler’s. It’s one for a car, so it’s angled wrong and a bit short on the sideS, but a touch of CA glue and it seems solid enough. Time’ll tell.

I can’t believe there isn’t one made for these trucks.

Just about finished the console . All the lights are wired up and working just need the snow to melt to get the 72 out of the barn . The blue looks much brighter in the picture than real life.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Replaced the stuck headlight switch and got an interesting result. Every light on my truck is significantly brighter and my headlight relays engage with a good, solid click. Not sure why this happened but I'm very happy with the result. Cheers!

I would need your truck for measurements about 3 months would be the turn around .

But really it needs to be fitted to seat position and seat height. This will fit the 72 but not the 68 as I lowered the 72 seat and put it all the way back
