Re: GM Semis
Those fat cabs are just too dang cool. A Detroit takes a lot of shifting. Imagine all the shifting in a local haul dump truck. That was quite the truck in it's time

Re: GM Semis
I know about being bored. Been nursing cracked ribs a couple weeks now. My pictures are all organized. Just now getting to where I can do a little. Probably mess all that up loading for the truck show at Carlisle, soon as I turn this computer off. I'm just going to go easy.
Something different. Not a recent build

Re: GM Semis
Ever see one of these push me pull yous? I remember there was one sitting in a town north of here for years. I always thought about doing something with it, but what? Now I wish I just bought it and now I'd have a great truck for the antique shows. I never knew what it was till I found this on the internet. Coleman built these

Re: GM Semis
was wondering wat these coleman trucks did , looks like they where mostly used as aircraft tugs :
Built by two American companies Federal (F-55-AF) and Coleman (CF-55-AF) these tugs were made up of two GM cabs welded together, had 4-wheel steering and were powered by a Buda LO-525 6cyl engine producing 125bhp. while looking for them i found these : http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/PrintTopic22610.aspx from the look of the website they where mostly knows for there 4x4 axles

Re: GM Semis
That is way cool. I never knew about those trucks or that concept. I know Coleman goes way way back with 4wd trucks, then conversions. Cool pictures of a rare truck(s).
I'm going to run through the converted 4wd/6wd pictures I have saved

Re: GM Semis
Years ago, a friend of mine bought an old Air Force Coleman tug. It was a single cab model, but had the 4 wheel steer. Interesting thing is, the steering knuckle is inside the giant baby moon looking hub cap.

Re: GM Semis
yeah i read about that too,
it was a coleman patented item looks like its simpler to make than the homokenetic ones , some company did try to copy the coleman idea and make it different enough to get another patent but they didnt managed to get it , they tried several ways to apply for the new patent but the cost was enough to drive the company close to bankrupty
