Looking good! I'm rolling with the bowtie/10 emblems also. I like them. I'll have the "Chevrolet" lettering on the hood also.

Thanks, I'm not going to run the hood letters. I don't like the way it looks with the cowl hood, looks to busy to me. If I was still running my stock hood I would definitely use them.

Yeah so am I. I'm going to start with the front fenders as I can use my originals for reference. Once I get that done I'll move on down the rest of the truck and cross my fingers it all matches up I'm actually thinking about mounting the trim with some type of molding tape and skip drilling the holes. I just don't know how it would hold up or if I would lose the molding going down the road.

Hey Keith,
Since nearly all (maybe all, I haven't seen them all though ) moldings on vehicles since the 90's (probably earlier) have used double sided tape, I'm sure it would be fine. I was thinking about doing the same if I ever added more trim, emblems, etc. Just be sure you use an automotive grade tape. Something like what you'll find from 3M (LINK#1 or LINK#2)

I too have thought about some 3m tape for the trim.

Maybe even,filling in the backside of the trim with a lighweight epoxy to get a larger mounting surface ?

And i have seen people epoxy magnets into the backside of the trim.

I'm still figuring out what I want to do with the trim. I think I'm just going to leave it off for now until I figure out how I want to mount it. If I have too I'll just suck it up and drill the holes but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I spent the weekend sick so no work was done on the truck. Sucks cause I could have got some epoxy laid down this weekend, it was sunny and low 80's all weekend and I spent it laying on the couch

I had a thought that may help you out with the trim. The tape idea is actually fairly simple and cheap... and easily reversible. You could buy some of the tape, place it on the trim you're looking at adding and put it on. Leave it on for a while to see if you like it. If you don't, pull it back off and there are no holes to worry about.

If you run a strip along the top and bottom of each piece, with no gaps from end to end, the trim should hold without any issues. (EDIT: OH, and make sure your trim pieces and body panels are CLEAN) It's when you use an inferior product (household instead of automotive), or try to put a few small pieces on that you'll run into problems with the taped on trim. The entire back doesn't need to be covered with tape. The 90's Chevy 1500 body side molding has a strip on top and a strip on bottom that holds it on. They're a pain in the a** to take off if you're trying to just pull it off by hand. The 3M tape is pretty strong stuff.

If you do put the trim on with the tape and want to take it back off, you can use a razor blade along the length of the tape to cut the foam part, or use some piano wire or small guitar string (high E), maybe even cheese slicer wire (if it's wide enough for the trim) start at one end, pull the wire/string through the foam to separate the pieces.

Or you can drill the holes and buy your clips (if you don't already have them) and install the trim for good.

Nope no primer yet, haven't had much time to work on the truck the last few weeks. I did get a couple hours in the garage tonight and started mounting the side trim. I decided to just bite the bullet and drill the holes to mount the trim like factory. I think this was the best choice to mount it properly because even though the trim fits good, I think it really needs the screws to hold it in place properly. Especially around the wheel wells.

I'm jealous of you moving to Knoxville, I'm a huge Tennessee Vols can and always tease my wife about moving there. She's not interested because there is no beach as she puts it maybe next time I drive down for a game I'll stop over for a visit.

Thanks Mike, you could just do what I did and just buy billets and Trim and then not leave yourself any money to pay someone to paint the truck for you

Thanks Paul, the trim is from Mar-K. I bought it off a forum member that purchased it but didn't use it so I saved a little money.

Like everybody else said, the trim really sets it off. I noticed the same thing as you, the trim around the wheel well has to be massaged pretty good to fit. Do you have any tips for getting it installed correctly?

Thanks, I used the 5 screws in the wheel well to get it into the right place and then gently wrested the ends up and into the right position with the body line. I found that if you do it the opposite way, you will have a hard time getting the trim to fit the radius of the wheel well. Hope that made sense and helps out.
