Thanks man, just got to finish welding them up and spray the bed down with a good coat of bedliner. I cant decide to leave the center open or to build a removeable notch cover so I can still access things like bags and lines if I have something fail.

As far as your upper arm hitting your steering shaft, you can do several things. Are you running stock arms? If so you can notch it with some tubing cut in half (like a "C") so it will clear the steering shaft. You can also swap out to a D shaft and some universal steering joints and an idler shaft, raising the shaft to clear the upper A arm yet still mak it all the way to the steerign box. Your third option would be some custom A arms, which would clear. Obviously the first thing is the cheapest, just depends on your skill. Good luck with it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I got my speedo gears in today. I installed the new drive and driven gear, tail shaft with new pinion seals, installed a new rear pinion seal, re-installed the yoke and the drive line. Buttoned up the speedo sleeve and cable. Gotta let the lock tight set up tonight and hopefully I can test out the speedo tomorrow.

I've got an orange (I think #8) drive gear(1.84 OD) and a brown(18 tooth) driven gear if anyone wants it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Speedo seems to be reading better. Not jumping around like it was. I need to get a GPS to check my true speed. Fired it up, ran it, found out my temp and volt gauges weren't working since I put in the new dash. I twisted it a bit at the printed circuit when I put it back together. All better now. But a new circuit is in the future I think

VERY COOL! I found the app and checked my speedo. Still off. 5 mph too fast. Just ordered another gear so now I will have a blue (20) tooth now too. Brand new, barely used! If anyone's interested. Also plled my front bumper off today cause it was crooked. Fixed it and me and the boy put it back on. Good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replaced my front steering and suspension original ball joints and tie rod ends, control arm bushings. Today, recuperating from 3 days of squating under fender wells. What a ***** it was to get those threaded steel bushings out and new ones in. Shaved twenty pounds of my truckes weight, all in rock and crud scraped out of a-arms and crossmember.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well, last week I dug out some stereo gear from my 97 f 150 that I installed in 98 and pulled when it was totalled in 2000
and desided to install the old junk that isn't worth anything in the truck

The doors where already cut front and rear for 6.5" speakers so I opened the rear hole and installed my boston acustic 6 by9s and pioneer 6.5"

I also had some kickpanels and a set of cerwin vaga(remember them) 6.5" two way seperates
the woofer is in the kick the tweeter in the dash

next was the really old jbl and kenwood amps

and then cut the crap out of my arms try'n to get this in the dash

and re installed the seat after a little rework

now to fit this blazer tank under the bed

this brace under the bed must be cut
all gone

there is another brace behind this one so it's not a big deal, if I was to use it like a 3/4 ton truck then,,
I'm gonna cut the brace at my cut about 3/8" and fold it in and weld it so it'll have a little added strenth..
after that sand and sand and then some por 15

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just got the headers on. Had to go in from the bottom. Only issue looks like the bottom of the pass. side frame rail may touch a little. I didn't tighten 'em down yet. They are full length super comp. hookers for a '73 to '87. They came with the motor when I traded for it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got the holes in the crossmember cut and lined with sch40 and then painted. Tried to install my brand new $750 Hooker headers...they don't fit. You would think for all that money they would jump out of the box and onto the truck all on their own!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

today I spent an hour in the back of my parts store trying to find a rad. hose that would clear my engine driven compressor belt. I had a flexhose with the spring inside and I dont even wanna now how much rust an/or pieces of rotted spring got sucked into my engine. I bought 2 that didnt work and just as I was going back to the store I almost fell over a full built 318 I have sitting in the garage. Wouldnt you know it there was an almost perfect hose right in front of me the whole time. After trimming 3 inches it was perfect! I started pulling my interior apart and took my console out to upgrade air valves and put in my painless kit. Then got sidetracked and wound up remaking the whole front half of my console for a smoother curve. I didnt go too crazy with it since Ill be pulling it out again when I get a radio and speakers someday. The console would be a perfect spot for a sub and some 6x9's.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Been making a punch list to wrap up my 4x4 conversion/Cummins install.

Also took the old fiberglass visor pos off.

Still a lot to do, but right now its looking like a truck again.

Until I blow it all back apart to finish boxing the frame. Then it will go back togeather after each piece is painted with POR-15

Project: That is awesome.

Over the weekend, I installed an ECE hidden hitch on my 72', installed the trailer wiring, remounted my compressor (interfered w/the hitch) and recalibrated my govenor in the 700R4 (what a pita!)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took longer that "Today", thanks to the wonderful roller-coaster weather we've been having and a minor bout with the flu, but I got my new exhaust manifolds installed.

Engine was replaced in '97 and around 40,000 miles since then. Bolts came out nice and easy. The doughnut gasket between the manifold and pipe on the pass. side was pretty much blown out. Now I can hear my exhaust tone and not the exhaust leak

Before---there is also an "R" on the passenger side that you cant see. Guess the guys that put in the engine couldn't tell the difference. The pass. one also has a big crack that you can't see in the pic.
