Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
LS power! Love those coil overs, what make are they? I have the Holley ones, but they're composite.
For people asking about the Intake, Fitech makes one that looks nearly the same as well. Along with a bunch of other companies. Such a visual improvement over factory! |

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Jim, you planning on changing your rear gear ratio? I changed mine on my S10 to a 3:73 and still got decent mileage with the OD trans.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Ray, wish it were that simple for me. My Nova rear axle small version only has a series 2 center, can't go to any higher gear ratio. I will need to change my rear axle. It will be done, but later down the road...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Getting little things done the last couple of days. I worked most of one day making up bracket for the DBW throttle pedal. (see 1st pic).
Mark has most of the wiring all done from BP harness, here's where it is in the cab, will be under the seat (pic 2). While truck is down, I decided to change the faces on my Speedhut gauges. During dusk time the green numbers were very hard to read and never got as bright as I thought they would. Called Speedhut and they will change all the gauges to a black face with white number, both day and night. Cost will be $80.00 for change. I think I will be happy with this (pic 3). Received new block hugger headers today and installed. Clearance is great and no more problem with brake arm hitting the header (pic 4). Still waiting for more parts to arrive, but other things to get done while waiting...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Making good progress guys!
Making the pedal bracket was time consuming on my '49. I wanted to use the original gas pedal, so it involved a custom arm also.

After all of these upgrades/changes I bet you enjoy the truck even more than before (if that's possible). Marc

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Have you thought off using a Ford Explorer rear end when you changeover? We put a 8.8 under a friend of mines S10 and it is holding up real well. Thee biggest problem is you have to change out the long side for a another short side but with the gear ratios available and abuse they will handle make it worth it.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
That's what I run in my '49. I think it will be too wide for Jim's pickup.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Hey everyone, been in the shop each day and getting little things done, nothing pic worthly. Been waiting parts, did get stuff in yesterday, and starting using them today.
First pic is the new ICT Billit AC bracket, the first one I had to return wouldn't clear the coil covers, this one fits great. Will remove, scuff and paint it black to match the rest of stuff. 2nd pic is the hook up on the power steering. I installed a low flow valve in the box, then adapter and used the old -6an fittings and lines, hope it works good. 3rd and 4th pic are of the stainless steel exhaust pipes, also new mufflers, flanges, gaskets, etc. Mark and I worked on this today, should finish up tomorrow...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Jim, would you please share the part number for the ac bracket? ICT makes great stuff, I run a 7176 bracket from them on the LS swap in my Z28.
