Yes sir, I also like tall and mean too Not much of a stock fan myself, like them either lowered or lifted. Guess that's why I'm chomping at the bit to lift my GMC

Your right, it probably would be a great shot for Holley. I'm in need of an EFI system, maybe they could give one to me for free

Amen brother I'm right there with you, unfortunately I blew my wad on the suspension, wheels and just about everything else on the truck. Now I have to do the paint and body myself instead of paying a shop to do it.

Thanks Tom I really appreciate it, I will have to take you up on that offer when the time comes for bodywork. I think I can handle beer payment hey are you going to the Englishtown swapmeet next weekend? I'll be there looking for a tailgate.

Thanks Jason, basically the tires sit right up against the inside of the bed sides. I don't know how I was able to air it out but I could never drive it that way. It would rub the whole time. So I have to cut out the inside of the bedsides to clear the tires. You can see in the pic I still have a little bit to trim. Basically what I did was take a wheel tub, place it exactly where I want it to sit and traced out the inside. Then just started cutting.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I plan on making a filler piece similar to what n2billet did on Hazel and welding it in. This way I add the strength back to the bedside that I cut out.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Sounds like a good plan. I've thought about doing this to mine, but I'm not going that low for a while. I do really like the idea though.

Seeing all these dropmember builds is making me want to cut mine up. I really don't want to do that yet though. It's very conflicting, and you're not helping!

Sorry buddy you know you want to I can say I probably wouldn't have gone this far had the truck not already been in a thousand pieces. I say keep driving and enjoying your truck before tearing into it.

Finished cutting out the inside of the bed tonight to clear the tires. I'm not to worried about rubbing now.

Very nice work on the bed Keith. Taking your time paid off making very simmetrical clearence. Keep the pictures coming.
X2 on the money shot.
Envious of your suspension setup.

Thanks Mike that cut across the top was a little nerve racking, there is only about a 1/2" between the inner bedside and the outer bedside. Any slip up and I would have had a nasty hole through the outer bedside. I knew how much I had to cut out but I didn't want to make one huge cut. I kind of snuck up on it a little at a time until I had what I needed.

Oh and I'm very envious of your paint, I can't wait till mine is to that point.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Started to pick up some paint for the truck, decided to go with PPG. Figured if I spend the money on quality materials then it should lay down and cover better for me. Since I'm a newby painter I think this is important.

I went back and forth on Viper red and Torch red. I then saw a new Corvette in Torch sitting in the sunlight and fell in love with the color. So I ordered a gallon of DBC Deltron 2000 which reduces to two gallons of paint. I'll probably pick up another quart of it so I have 2.5 gallons of paint incase I have some mistakes.

Thanks Jason, now I need to build a filler piece for it. I'll probably wait until I take the bed apart cause it will be easier to work with. Working around the suspension is a pain

In this pic the bed is off the ground more than the cab, but the body lines match perfectly. My OCD isn't ok with this. Are all these trucks like that when laying frame?
