I snapped a picture of the driver's side. One shows that the construction isn't very good, as you can see through to the ground in two spots. They both show that the blend from the front of the fender to grille support is off. I don't know if that's because of the fender or the grille/truck. The truck ran into, or had been hit by, some horizontally fixed object just above the bumper on the passenger side, which smashed in the fender, grille support, and grille, and I attempted to pull the grille support back into place. It wouldn't be fair to judge the passenger side. I'll know better once I bolt everything in place.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I had the tailgate letters and the area between the the chome on both sides of the truck handpainted in metallic silver today. I think it compliments my chevy tahoe grey interior seats.

Drug this '64 out from it's resting place for the last 16 years. Amazingly enough, the tires were still aired up! I'll have it home this weekend.

reconnected my heater, general de-greasing and crud removal of the block, valve cover and side cover gasket replacement, cleaned up the ignition wires, and polished the air filter cover on the weber.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Yeah, the lap didn't include the long front straight, so I didn't have to worry about cooking the brakes in Big Bend. That being said, with the rudimentary safety equipment (old lap belts and not much else) I wasn't motivated to push it.

Also, it looks like you have a hydraulic clutch set up like my '60 GMC...what part did you use to set up your brakes and clutch? Thanks! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Finally got time to get the glove box back together with a new insert.
Broke down and pulled off the back bumper. I realized the lights "issue" could likely be replaced with ATV or motorcycle lights. I'm going to work on finding them. Also, needed the bumper off to pound out a dent in order for the rear driver wheel to have more clearance as well as attempt to get the top bolt off the rear shock. It has been "stubborn" so far. |

Not today but Monday, pulled it out of its resting place for the last 9 years and brought home.
Bought it as a non runner, but got it running Wednesday evening.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Was finally able to get the cab off to do some rust repair today. I put some new cab supports in also. It's not much but it sure feels good to get some new parts welded in.

Figured out that the aftermarket AM radio that was in the old truck when I got it actually works. It's so old, it was made in Japan, not China.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I took the truck out for it's maiden voyage (sense it was painted). I have not driven it for over a year and a half. The doors rattled like crazy but I think that is because the whether stripping is falling off. The inside door handle also fell of but that is not a big deal.
Sorry no pictures. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Figured out that Chevy designed the side mount spare to be movable depending on what access was needed to the bed. So I'm putting it back to where the spare fits in the indent on the fender. Got that old box setup out of the bed. The thing is steel and heavy. Had to use my motorcycle jack to get that crap out of there. |
