I'd be proud to have both of them in my driveway. That's some real honest Detroit iron right there. Doesn't look like an 89 though, the grill and bezels looks much older, and the chrome Silverado trim looks out of place on a dually. Seems like it's got some kind of buckets in it. Can't see from the pic, but can you tell what those front hubs are?

Guys, please stop dragging the topic off course. DVR? What grille to choose? Please guys, read the title of the thread before posting.

P.S. A suburban is not a crewcab.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

I agree with pig rig, the flat black ratrod look was cool for about five minutes. I'm so absolutely sick of it now. I was ok with it on an unfinished hotrod, back in the day everyone wanted to finish their hotrod with some pretty paint, but it was acceptable to drive it in primer until you could afford the paint. But people building high-dollar rods and intentionally not painting them bugs me for some reason. And even if it doesn't bug you and you think it looks cool, then you have to agree it's been overdone. I think customizing vehicles is about creativity, not about doing what everyone else is doing.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

What do you think of how my wheel came out? I think the newer style rim woulda looked a little better, but for what it cost me I'm pretty pleased. I even found a set of center caps for the rears that I bought a million years ago and put away, once I get some paint on the rear we'll see how that turns out.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

i don't know much about the crew, i like taking pics of my burb with other trucks.
It does have a very nice interior, red buckets in front and the bench seats in the rear are formed like 3 individual seats. the sun was playing against my camera phone so I couldn't get a get picture.

That's sick! It would look really good if the top and middle section was black, cowl hood. black wheels with a red pinstripe.

Back when I was trying to buy a crewcab I wore out the interweb looking for a round-light truck with one of those super-cool ugly two-tone paint schemes.

Do like i'm planning, get a square light one with TBi injection, and convert the front clip.

Got the truck (2 of them) and planning the work now, gathering parts. Problem here is it's winter, and the ole garage has no heat. Can't dive in too deep till spring.
