Re: 1968

I'm having a hard time imagining the end result on the bed floor mod, so I'm going to have to wait until it is done to get it.

I just raised the floor 4 1/2 inches. That is all I did. I am finished with the bed floor MOD.

Re: 1968

Today I painted the bed supports again. Second coat. The bed mod. is done except for a end piece of polish stainless. About 6 inches and it will have to be break with a metal bender. I only have one problem and that is where the gas inlet is. I don't think I am going to have enough room. But other than that the bed floor id done. I will need to buy my wood still. Haven't decided what kind of wood I want to use.

Re: 1968

I tried to use that tank and even went as far as to notch the frame so the hose would fit. I wanted to run the gas hose from the tank to a box inside the bed. I gave up and changed the tank to a poly tank but then did not want to cut a fill inside my bed floor. And then I changed to a Camaro tank that works great.
I wish you better luck than I had.

Hang in there! I used to fight Vertigo myself, turned out it was a side affect of a med my "X" Dr Prescribed, even after talking to him about the Vertigo and also seeing a different specialist not one of them looked at my Med list and said that "This" could be the cause. Turned out there was more than Vertigo, body ach's and mental lethargy and insomnia were also kicking in, i took myself off the med and all the problems disappeared.

Other rear fill tanks have been used as well, Falcon and Mustang ring a bell, if you do a search on them you will find a few threads.

That Vertigo well it is something. But it isn't my meds I have been on these meds since 2009. The doctor send me for a complete blood work up. Next she is doing a ultrasound on my neck. Good thing I have good insurance and the VA.

Re: 1968

Today, I got my front bumper braces down. I bought the braces several months back. I sand blasted them and painted them gloss black. It was a bad day to sand blast. The heat under the hood was a killer.

Re: 1968

I've had the Vertigo too, no fun and you do not understand unless you've had it.
Ill be home tomorrow in the AM until noon and then back after two or so and all day Friday and Saturday.
Ill find the number for the tank and get back to you. I am pretty sure the brand was "Tanks" for a 69 Camaro. I got the one that can have a in tank pump incase I go fuel injection some day.

Re: 1968

I think I am going to call it a day with my blazer tank. The more I think about the tank and the filler in the bed the more I hate the idea. If I never had to haul anything in the bed, the neck in the bed would be fine. But, what if I did haul something and I needed to put gas in the tank, then I would have to un load before I put gas in the tank. That does not set well with me. I will locate a tank somewhere and put the 1969 Camaro tank in the truck.

Re: 1968

Today I got my mounting bolts for the front bumper braces. I re-painted the bumper braces and the bolts black. Maybe tomorrow I will mount the braces on the truck and get ready for the front bumper when ever I get around to buying it. I sold my blazer gas tank so I will be ordering my new Camaro gas tank soon. I just put it on the parts board tonight and a guy grab it.

Re: 1968

Today, I pulled the blazer tank out of the truck. I also pulled the tail gate, got tired of reaching over the open tail gate. I got the blazer tank sold to a fellow board member and box up. I also picked up another set of rear bumper braces. How I will have a pick of the best and straightest ones. I got to go to the welding shop and get some 1 x 1 1/2 square tubing to mount the Camaro tank. It is amazing it took me 3 hours to install the tank and on 30 minutes to pull it.

Yea, I read that wright up and I am sure I am going to use the 69 Camaro tank. I like the idea with it behind the tag. It isn't that hard to figure out either.

Re: 1968

This week I will be ordering my new 1969 Camaro gas tank with new sending unit and some anti squeak rubber. Some time next week I will be installing the rear gas tank with the gas neck under the tag. It looks like a made a step backwards, cause I already had a blazer gas tank installed in the truck. But now I can move forward again.
I have done this several times. Doing stuff and then decided to change directions. This is the first time it didn't cost me extra money. A little labor is all. Now I want have to install a gas door in the bed floor. The reason I changed is for a number of reasons.
First, I want have the extra expense of the gas door in the bed floor.
Second, I want have to unload anything that is in my bed to re fuel on a trip.
Third, I can refuel at a station in both directions, since my tank inlet is in the middle.
Forth, I want have to cut and weld any bed supports.
I guess I could come up with a few more but, I want for I like the tank I am ordering. I will post pictures of the install, just in case guys want to do the same thing.

If i do another tank it will be a rear fill! I didn't figure that one out until after i had already bought and installed my fuel cell onto the truck, that was long before i started my build thread.

Today I had to do some chores around the homestead. Like getting tile for the oldest boy's new bedroom. I was going to lay a floating floor, but went with tile instead. it will last a lot longer.

Re: 1968

Waiting for parts. I want have any parts until the first of next week, so I am taking a small trip to Orlando, Fl. and help a person in the Church with some of his repairs on his home. A bunch of guys from the church are going over and spending the day helping him out. I have to wait anyway so I might as well do some good.

Re: 1968

It will be looking good by Thursday. My new tank will be here Wednesday. and hoping the rear bumper will be here before next Friday and then I can mount it and then I will have something to look at. I hope to have my wiring harness by weeks end also.
