caster is the angle of the kingpins in relation to the ground if you drew an imaginary line through the top and bottom pivot center. 4-6 degrees positive, or tipped back at the top is usually the love zone on a kingpin 60. and 6 is at the edge of to much IMO. the easiest way to measure it is to get the truck on some even level ground and put and angle finder on the kingpin cap. i usually try to sit the angle finder on the flattest part i can on the top of the knuckle. depending on the caps, i like to use the tops of the bolts if they are matching. you can also use the bottom bearing cover.
Thanks Ryan . That is what I was looking for . Im pretty sure thats how you explaned it before but i wasnt sure whos thread it ended up on . No allignment shops stock shims to adjust caster . I will take a measure and go from there . Thanks Again ,

4' lift rough country's for a 73-87 K20. They have been on a 88 V30 before this and I haven't had a problem with them.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

Have to bring this one out of the dead and knock the dust off it. A few weeks ago we put the truck in the barn to avoid some severe weather and hail heading our way. Last weekend we got it back out and I put on the new to it wheels and new tires. I had some help with the look from a couple socia-paths from on here. I think they were right and it looks pretty good this way. The only thing I'm going to change is powder coat the lock out centers blue.

I've got to finish some repairs on my Super H, clean the shop, and then it's back to work on the Longhorn. I've got a whole list of stuff to finish and get done so I can start driving this thing.

Maybe I missed it, but are those powder coated aluminum rims? They look great by the way. I am a big fan of the BFGs. I ran a set for 82K miles and still had some tread. I was impressed. So I bought my 3rd set.

They're just painted for now. Later I will send them in to be blasted and powder coated. This wheel swap was a last minute deal. I supposedly had a dude coming to buy my 76, so I had to get these mounted and put on here as the other wheels and tires went back on the 76. Guess what, the dude bailed.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

This past Saturday I got the wife to help me move the Horn in the shop. Her arms were hurting a bit after that deal. I have to remove my grill to install my trans cooler so I'm trying to decide to leave the stock type or install my billet insert? I like both so it's a toss up to me.

I'm finally getting around to installing my White Rhino Fab bumper too. It's beastly for sure! I've got to drill the holes for it tomorrow. That should be good fun. (Not really)

My vote is for stock grill, I'm some what of a purist though. I think you could pull stumps with that bumper. Nice progress!

Listen to this guy.

Now to decide on powder coat or paint? All the PC'd bumpers I've been around haven't held up very well. My brother thinks I should plasti-dip it, but I'm not sold on that yet for something you will be stepping on.

I might put a small section on the top of either side for a step, but I don't really care for the face to have a textured look.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

I forgot to mention I picked up a 21gal tank from one of my budies that I'm going to try to fit in the back of the frame for now. I really want a 35-40 gal tank in the end, but right now time is the issue. This one should work fine and make a guy feel like he's driving cheap with such a small tank.

One of my brother's friends gave him a whole kit of Al's liner, and he gave it to me. (Actually I took it out of his hands. Haha) So now I have to get the gun and 2 more kits to do my bed the way I want to do it.
