Looks at www.Porterbuiltstreetrods.com. Check out the white '78 Dropmember build pics. I believe it was done with the drivetrain in place. If it was me,... I'd pull the engine and trans. Also,... welcome to the board.

Re: Dropmembered trucks
Hey guys,
what is your opinion about using a manual rack vs. a power rack&pinion? is a manual rack as hard to steer the stock 60-66 manual steering? I was thinking of going with a manual rack to keep my engine looking cleaner but have never driven a truck with a manual rack. Thanks! |

Re: Dropmembered trucks
mine is still a project and i am running a ps rack, as of now i dont have the ps pump on and pushing it around the shop with the engine in and everything , i cant believe how easy it steers !!! it would make me think that a reg rack would do fine .... like i said i have never driven it , this is just pushing it around

Re: Dropmembered trucks
Looks great, but I don't think it's a "Dropmember", by the conventional standard. Looks like very nice, high quality parts, which have come to be expected from SD...

The Dropmember is Porterbuilt Streetrods replacement crossmember. Other companies use different terminology to describe theirs. There is a difference. Subtle difference, but a difference no less. Nice job on yours BTW.
