That's cool!! Man I love the Impala. I drove that thing around my senior year in high school with bald tires and let me tell you, I learned how to handle a car real quick. 10" wide bald tires in a rain storm in the interstate....haha good times. Also every time I would come out of the car wash I would do a huge dukes of hazard onto the road and everyone would clap for me. Not on purpose of course. I go to school up in the mountains so I have to leave her at home or else it would still be my dd. She still fires right up and that lt1 runs like a top every time I get a chance to drive her

Re: US Tom

Quick update. I've got the bags installed on all four corners, have the lines run to the area where I intend to install a box that PorterBuilt just came out with. I got the other two Intro Pentias last week and got the tires mounted today, so I ran out to the shop and test fit them with the new brakes. Here's a pic with the truck dropped as far as it will go.

Next, the engine is coming out and it's off to Laid Back Recreations to get the firewall painted.

Looks like you're moving right along with this one Steve. This truck has came a long ways.
You decide what motor you want to put back in it after you get it back?

Re: US Tom

I've got options, but not enough space to have so many cars apart. The small block that's in it is a possibility, an LS1 sure would be sweet too, but the big block would be where I'm leaning so far. Just a matter of logistics.

Re: US Tom

Those fron wheels are sure looking fine. Are you happy with the backspacing in the front? Which tires did you end up going to?

Re: US Tom

The backspacing front and rear turned out perfect. The fronts tuck in enough they don't contact the fender until the support.

I went with Toyo Proxes ST 2's for a couple reasons. They had the sizes I wanted and I like the looks of the tread pattern. 255/45-20's and 295/40-20's. Those sizes wind up being within 1/4" the same overall height and the sidewall height is close too.

I have a CPP notch, but I'm not sure I need to use it. There's not much point in allowing the rear to go lower if the front wont go any lower. It sits pretty level now at full drop, and I can't drive it that low for sure. Once I'm able to get the air set up and working, I'll determine a workable drive height and check clearances.

I need to work on getting the front stops set so I don't screw up the front fenders.

Re: US Tom

Got some parts in this week - a battery box, a slick little air management mount, and front shock mounts.

I'm going to relocate the battery under the bed. Air management system will be under the bed on the opposite side.

Me either! Maybe I need to come up with some sort of deadline like you did with SEMA. It's amazing how much you got to come together in that last two months!

Here's a pic of the front shock mounts. They're made by Scott's Hot Rods. Talk about stout! Love the quality of the welds on these too.
