Yeah, I wish I had "Mad Great Skills". I have seen more than one on here that do, and wish I was one of them. I am just an old hack and I know it. I am not afraid or lazy and will dig right in, but I too wish I did. I am quite sure some serious fabricators look at my junk and throw up a little in their mouth, but it will get the job done.

Well my goal this weekend was to dis-assemble the step side bed and widen it 6 inches. I could have got by with 4 or 4.5 but I went with 6 inches just in case Homer ever gets an altitude adjustment in the future.
The tailgate now reads

"Chevivrolet"

You do know youre going to confuse the hell out of some with that tailgate mod but it looks good to me.

Thanks guys. I was originally going to re-fabricate the pockets the tailgate shuts into. I ev Ernest bought the metal last week 2 do it. The more I looked at it the more I didn't like that option.

Can't wait to see the widened box back on Homer. I too thought about widening my box. I do believe I will be going the widened fender route. But you never know.I am excited to see how yours turns out. Nice to see that the cab and chassis axle fits under the box just as I Had envisioned.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I also can't wait to see the box back on Homer. I think it's going to look cool. I opted to widen the box even though it's a bit more work that the fenders cause to me the box already looks narrow compared to the cab and the fenders stick out. I don't know, we'll see.

Well guys even though I have to take the bed right back off to body work the bed and back of cab I just had to see it in place since I widened the bed 6 inches. You can tell that 4 inches would have done the trick, but I went an extra inch on each side for clearance.

Drumroll,,,,

No, I will not be changing the rear fenders out at any time in the near future. As a matter of fact, I think these fenders actually look good. I think they have a little cool flair to em.
