Rake?!! I'm old enough to remember that stance. I love the driveshaft angle, real old school. Love it

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
yup, can keep your dub rims, pavement scrapin, tubbed out rides....old school rake works for me too. another day or two have the chevelle done. didn't mind doing a couple cars, but cant wait to get back on the trucks, cars are just....cars. interior is done, scratched up a quick roll bar for it, otherwise, all stock tunnel ram LS6 revell....hmmph...rear axle sat on 2 pegs, reeal accurate....now it's got some proper coil springs (remember the wifey's window regulator? putting them parts to use...) body is painted & detailed, just curing up |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
even though i want to get back on the trucks, gathering parts has been difficult, more so with our buck diving against the us dollar...have been looking into resin casting & am seriously considering it. for a $15 set of swampers, with shipping & exchange, i'm getting nailed $34, ouch!! (as well as crazy....)
i've managed to get another box for the gmc, but still no fenders (if i resin cast, i can break the fenders off my stepside & cast up a bunch...). will prob be putting this on hold till i find fenders, really, really want a round-eye dually.... i do have this '98 that dawg knocked off the dresser, mite do it next, wont cost me nothing, have a set of 33's, thinking 4" lift, slight pre-runner look.... this recently showed up near my kids school might have to go introduce myself...i just happen to have a '50 chevy in the collection....also got a '57 cameo want to 4by, a '57 chevy panel, also needs 4bying, want to convert my '94 C3500 crew dually to 4by on swamps, still need to jump on the pete (got a front axle for it, pretty sure going to have to scratch the t-case....), was farting around the other day, came across Larry Schwacofer's old Rippin' Rooster that someone restored & is running again and Mick Newton's old Snortin Nortin nova. just happen to have 4 bel airs & a '70 nova in the collection.... said it before, say it again, wish my pocketbook was big as my imagination.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
the rear axle actually moves up & down a few mm's with the coil springs in it. the exhaust except for the race mufflers, & panhard bar are scratched. gas tank straps are pieces of pop can, played with the height to sit it where i wanted & tires are goodyear resins again
crap...knocked the tailpipe off the muffler when i flipped it...touch that up... 454 with some mods. also filled the cowl & rad support for a cleaner look |

must be getting old, the '99 (not '98) that dawg broke, is a 2wd. built it so long ago, i just assumed it was a 4by. with my crappy winter hrs & losing 20 something cents on every dollar, it has temporarily put a hold on ordering parts from the states, so the '99 is now going to sit....but i couldn't keep my hands off the snowplow truck.....sure feels good working on trucks again-NO MORE CARS revell.....getting less impressed with them every yr. the snowplow truck is a re-issue, you think they would have fixed some of the screw-ups. box was a lot harder to convert to a longbox than the amt '84 was, mainly cause it's in pieces, very thin bed & fenders, a lot flimsier then the '84 one piece box, lots of warpage, lots of heating & straitening a day of farting around & a couple oz's of blood later, got me another longbox...(just picture that with some dually fenders...yeah) and because i want a dually & cant find chevy stepside fenders, going to pick this up tomorrow for $15. buddy says the fenders are a dead ringer for the chevy fenders, wouldn't surprise me, monogram used a lot of the same parts in a lot of their truck kits, & if they dont, their 1/24 & i got a good starting point to modify. not to mention i'll get axles, t-case, terra tires, etc....know a ford guy i can swap the motor & body for something chevy... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
well, i think the guy i got the Krusher from has been inhaling too much Testors....
hardly what i'd call a "dead ringer" it's actually not a bad kit for a ford. i'm going to see if a ford fanatic on my model site will swap it for a chevy first, if not, out comes the razor saw.... really not getting impressed with this revell truck, i think this is worse than the old ones. blank door panels with NOTHING on them, another crappy revell "separate back cab wall", molded exhaust, & worst, no cab floor....jeez got A LOT to do on this one.... |

Those fenders are dead ringers for Ford fenders lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
didn't really want "f" fenders on my gmc ....
after countless hrs of looking, finally found a stepside. might take a bit to get here, coming from FLA by the time this thing is done, be looking at about a $125 model.... all i got to say about this kit is revell is sticking true to their tradition of turning out the crappiest 73-87 models ever made... no drip rails, trim across the top only on the rear window, sink holes all over it, 4 big ones inside cab roof....before/after nice boring nothing door panels....been scratching some panels, little more work needed....notice more sink holes in the floor.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
here we go again with that fine revell detail....never seen a smooth box floor (notice them dang sink holes!) would have been easier to use a piece of corrugated styrene, but it's to thick & throws the cab/box alignment way off, so going to do it this way....plus side, enough room at the front & rear of the box for bed brace rails...
started making some kind of floor. not accurate, but cant get to fancy or the trans & t-case won't fit.... and got the frame stretched out & started knocking some of the junk off it, could'nt get rid of the mufflers though, cut them off & there goes the crossmember.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Didnt monogram do one of these trucks in stepside form? If so could those fenders work. I think this kit looks better as a long bed! Keep up the good work!

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dieselburb
monogram & mpc make a stepside, just a matter of finding one that is'nt made of gold the revell truck is the only current 73-87 being made right now that i know of, all other 73-87's are out of production-hence stupid prices on them.....sure wish someone would tool up a 73-87 longbox.... even though our buck sucks right now ($0.80), my caster is having a free shipping sale, even to canada-yeah! makes up for the exchange. talked to the wifey, have to make a sacrafice if i want to buy parts-no booze till the end of the month.... but she didn't say how much i could buy.....should have $96 worth of parts showing up in 10 days......i'll worry about the 96 when the M/C bill comes in..... bought enough parts for the dually, the '99 dawg wrecked & parts to convert my '94 dually C3500 to a solid axle K3500 have'nt got a lot done, waiting.... some more work on the bed & floor way to go revell! two gas tanks & only 1 filler...scratched out a couple caps it comes with a 350 that has the goofiest FI set-up i have ever seen, never seen a '77 with factory FI either....my last parts box 454 (till my 96 gets here) with a carb is going in it. pretty strait forward, did have to mickey mouse a air cleaner together from a newer style one. Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale. just cant belive revell would RE-ISSUE with so much wrong....
whats that old saying, enjoy now, pay later, well i "Mastered" the moment... my casters free shipping sale runs out on the 28th, so i threw another order in. wife was a little ticked at first, but all the parts are for re-builds so there's no initial kit cost..... a Cameo i built back in the early '90's, paint is starting to peel & roughen up. ordered some 41" Ground Hawgs for it i'm not crazy about having 2 junkers on the go, but on the rain train i'm getting bored waiting for parts. this is my other dually, '94 C3500. a cheap snap-tite that i had to add a motor to, going on 38" swamps. another '90's build, this is what it looked like yesterday.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
....this is what it looks like now....
a trip in the stripper rear window broke on disassembly, not to concerned, it had a big glue blob on it anyway.... the suspension on this one is going to be a CHALLENGE! still working on how i'm going to make it work, the front i'm not worried about-SAS re-did the int for it, not so much black now |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
well, end of the month, but still no beer....spent the day driving to the hobby shop & blowing more money, mostly styrene supplies, just cant control myself in there.....
first attempt at loping off the 2wd a-arms, didn't care for it second attempt will work better for mounting shock hoops. if your wondering about the styrene on the back of the frame, go look at a '88-'98, i hate that you can see right threw under the box.... seeing how the bed bottom was attached to the old frame....new bed & rails. ended up chopping the fuel tank in 3 pieces, some aluminum pop can straps should hide the cuts cant wait to sling them swampers under there.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yeah, the color just kinda jumped at me while i was standing in front of the paint rack....
just finished the '77's interior & was prepared for a wait, till i got home from work & found this in my mailbox, the first of 4 order's to roll in, real good timing! 1 visor, some BBC valve covers, couple D60 diffs, couple of 205's, bunch of rotors & calipers, most of a dually rim set, & a whack of 38" swampers. unfortunately 1 front dually rim did not show up..... |

The green looks great. So do the swampers on both trucks.
