Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Ordered up almost all the metal I need, almost! Got a shipment from Wes coming soon. Been busy remodeling my kitchen in my man cave basement. Been a rough couple of weeks, vacation for 11 days, then tear into this kitchen project. Dad 's selling more Pontiac parts soon, so more funds on the way! Anybody running 40-42" rubber on 1 ton axles? Pic's? Gonna do some searching on the 1 ton brake upgrades again also, anything new out there? Pic's?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Looking at all my parts to swap out my dana 20 transfer case for the np205 I picked up from Sharpie. Will the 4 speed manual transmission to transfer case adapter I'm running now with the dana20 work with the np205? From what I've seen the np205 is a few inches longer yoke to yoke. It looks like the dana20 adapter has a bracket of sorts bolted to the side for the shifter assembly on the passenger side. What I was wondering is can I just unbolt that and reuse that adapter or do I need to get one specific to the np205? Anybody done this swap?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

I remember YJ saying his dana20 was broken when he got it, so he swapped in the np205. Only other thing he had to do was drop his t-case crossmember like an inch. I already picked up a np205 crossmember so I should be good there. Just wondering about the adapter part of the swap. Also where can you get the gaskets for those areas, I really don't just want to use gasket sealer or the likes. YJ, you there?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got a call from Wes last night, parts have been shipped! Getting closer everyday! Poured some gas in the tank tonight, gonna have to drop the tank and replace all the rubber lines just so I can keep starting it up and move it around. All the rubber lines at the tank are cracked, sucking air, and leaking. No problem, tank has to come out to do the shackle flip anyway's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

I am ordering up a 1 ton brake upgrade system from PICKMUP. Any feedback from members that have used his setups? This one comes with the big booster, big MC, dual DB prop valve, brackets, pedal rod, and the lines from MC to prop. Sounds like a real good setup to me, just wondering if anyone has used it with the dana60 and 14 bolt rear?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Well I did it! Brake upgrade kit will be here by the end of the week! Gotta get moving on some other stuff before fall really sets in. As soon as my basement remodeling project is done, I can evaluate all the parts I have gathered and see what else I need! Even though I really haven't been able to use my K5 this summer, at least I have it close, can start and drive it around, and have spent a whole bunch of money on it! I will post up some pic's of brake parts asap.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Tracking brake booster kit with FEDEX, should be here tuesday. Looking at my inner firewall, and want to clean it up. Gonna go with a driveline e-brake, so will not need the stock e-brake pedal assembly. Plan on removing the stock pedal, cables, etc. That will clean up the drivers side kick panel area under the dash a bit. Anybody done this swap?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Thank you, I started to think I was talking to my self here! Just sounds like a good idea to me. Driveline e-brake is expensive, but I think it will be worth it!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Got the brake upgrade coming from PICKMUP, and heater box coming from Sharpie. Been kinda busy the last couple of days, Friends set me up with a used car for my almost 16 year old twin girls. 1992 Mercury Capri 2 door convertible in great shape. It has been in storage, and not started in about 4 years. Went and pulled the plugs tonight and shot a little marvel mystery oil down the cylinders, gonna let it set till thursday. Gotta get a new battery for it and some fresh gas- should fire right up! Oh, 1992 model with 57,000 miles on it! Chevy brake parts should be here tommorrow!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Sounds like you have a good stock of parts built up for the winter. You gonna start the rebuild this fall?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Hope to, but may be spring before I get the cash up for it. A few more floor parts and I'm ready there. Plan on regearing and overhauling the 60 & 14 bolt over the winter at least, so their ready to bolt in. Still need to set up some 1 ton driveshafts and e-brake system. Any suggestions?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Good grief, I'm the last guy you should ask about that. I've been trying to get my Blazer out of the garage for 7 years! And I just don't know anything about axles. Other than mine are 6 lug, have drums on all four corners and kind of work...

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

My buddy did the 1 ton booster swap on his 72 jimmy, was straight forward, although he bought all the pieces from napa, He has the 4 we=heel disc brakes on his and had to use an adjustable prop valve.

Also keep the e-brake foot pedal, he has a High angle drive line e-brake and was able to use the factory ebrake pedal. I will see about getting some pics, it was stupid easy.

Did you get a high angle driveline? I have one without the ebrake setup but they are very nice quality and super beef.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

If you are getting the driveline ebrake from HighAngleDriveline you need to use one of their rear shafts (supposedly).

I plan on running their ebrake kit and rearshaft and want to use the stock ebrake pedal as well - so if it is "Stupid easy" I would love to see some pics of the setup.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Right on BBC72! Thank's for the heads up on the e-brake! Don't know why I didn't think of that, makes total sense. Got my brake upgrade kit today, and it is sweet! I will have to make a few mods to make it fit but nothing major! Took some pic's with the 35mm for the documentation, but will get more digitals when my main computer is back online. Anybody running HAD driveline setups? Got some pic's?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Here is my buddys driveline e-brake set-up, he cut the end off the factory e-brake bracket and flipped it sideways and bolted it back to the bracket. It works sweet too.

They have it to where you have to run there drivelines with it, you pull off the factory yoke on the 205 and put there flange back on, then the caliper gets sandwiched in between the driveline and flange.

I am running a HAD shaft in my blazer as well without the e-brake. I will see about getting some pics up for you soon. Jess is a great guy to deal with there and knows his stuff. The drivelines are 1ton rated and are super beefy. I think i payed around $550 for my shaft and flange so be prepared. I think the ebrake setup is around $300.

I tried to get away without a CV shaft when I first lifted my blazer, It ate through u-joints and had a bad vibration. I was only running 8" of lift and 35s at that time.
