Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
Yea... I did 1/2 to 3/8 elbow. I had one of the plastic quick connects break and went to lowes and bought a metal one. Works fine.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
looking good man! i believe the sway bar end link is supposed to be straight up at ride height, maybe a different length (shorter) end link would fix that, I always used energy suspension ones when lowering or bagging a chevy truck, usually buy them at autozone they have them in a few different lengths. if you use a stock length end links on a lowered chevy truck they lean back like yours. unless its an alignment issue with the holes? and the energy suspension ones dont squish (bulge) like the stock rubber bushing type and handle much better but they wont flex much if you want to do side to side maneuvers with the bagged suspension. Keep it going, I cant wait to see a body on that frame, definately show quality work on the chassis !
PS - I think you may need some SLOSH TUBZ when you get the fenders on there.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
That's good info on the swaybar. I have been worried about that for a while.
I was suppse to buy the slosh tubs last week.. but the sale for my breaks fell thru. I wasn't a happy camper. I want those tubs so bad. I can't wait to get them. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
looked at your pics again and realized that I think you need a longer, not shorter end links and I mis spoke, on a lowered chevy with stock end links they lean forward not backward. I think your end links are too short. if you look at the "legs" (front to rear section of bar) of the sway bar they should be parallel to the ground at ride height. I also noticed that i could eat off of your chassis is it so clean! very nice man.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
Aight guys... I just wanted to give you an update since I have not posted anything up in a while. I ran low on funds for a little bit. With a 6 month old daughter she has eaten up most of my time and money. I just cant help to spend time with her when I get home. Well.... its about time to get back on track with the truck. At this moment I am trying to run the gas a break lines. I BELIEVE i have all the plumbing toolsm fittings and hoses. So that should be completed this week. After that.... The tear down of the 68 DD begins. I have made a few purchases in the past week and will try to post pics tomorrow. Here is a short list of the things that will be added. Aluminum Heads, Roller rockers, Sanderson mid-drift headers, wilwood master cylinder, and 9" chrome booster, serpentine belt setup, and new American Autowire kit.
Im pretty excited to get started on this and have this truck drivable. I am also taking a week off around the 20th to stay home and finish the truck. Wife and kid will be out of town So I should have PLENTY of time to work on it. BTW... here has been my distraction.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
Just got through your whole build, you are doing an awesome job for never having done this before.
Seems like yesterday my daughter was that age, She is going to be ten in a March and I am wondering where the time went? OK did I miss what engine you were putting in? I read that you were abandoning the LS1 idea due to budget but I am not sure I read what you were going to use.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
Thanks guys!
The red/Orange truck came with a 355 crate motor. It only has 40,000 miles on it so I'm going to use it. It runs really strong and was built really well. I'm just going to do a little tweeking to it. It has vortec heads, so I'm changing that over to aluminum heads and roller rockers. It already has a heavy cam so that will stay. It also has a turbo 350 behind it that will be changed to the 700R4 I purchased. I really wish I had someone local to help me run these gas and break lines. They are really intimidating and confusing me. I've tossed up running hard lines to the bags too... Well see how the gas and break lines go first. My goal is to have this truck back to a daily driver by march 1st. Posted via Mobile Device

Hey Brian,
I haven't checked back in a while. I see things are going well for you. Your daughter is adorable. Your chassis is looking sweet man. All the components I would use if I were doing a dropmember build. Keep up the good work! Steve

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
355? Was it bored out? We are on similar paths, mine had a 350 crate that had 40,000 original miles then shreded the cam and I had to bore out .30 over and put a better cam in it. I also converted to a 700r4, but I too have not got it running yet and hope to by March too. I'll race ya

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
May be a dumb question, so the small levers on the LCA and rear arms are the auto levling ? Once it reaches a certain point it will 'kick' the bag on that side a little to automatically level it out ?? Wow ..
Makes me want to take a step back on mine and really consider this setup. What color are you going to paint the truck? Just curious...

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"
Did someone say "Race"
Cool how you, me and Mike have similar engine builds, all from crate engines. Who else is producing 435hp?
