Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Thanks!
Thanks. Your build has inspired me to pay attention to detail. Thanks. I hope my body & paint come out like your truck. Nice build.. My new bed side just came in. I am hoping to get some etching primer on my bare metal parts this weekend. Were suppose to be high 80's this weekend. I can't use my swamp cooler in the garage until I primer.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
I had a productive weekend. I was able to get my door hinges, glove box door, windshield cowl and bed parts primed.
My new bed side came in also. And the Eater Bunny came last night when I finished... I will be choosing my paint color in the next couple of weeks. I am down to about 26 colors???? This is the hardest part of my build so far. I have decided not to assemble the bed until I paint the bottom side of the floor and inside of the bed sides before assembling.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
VA72C10 Thank You... I am leaning towards Red.
My stainless steel bolt kit finally arrived today. The kit came with every bolt needed to assemble the body, including the interior parts. The nice thing is the bags are labeled with the locations. I had to order the bed bolts separate.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Very nice work on the bed and other parts. That looks like a nice set of hardware.
Did you rebuild your hinges before you primered them? If so, where did you buy the rebuild kit? thanks |

Awesome project! I saw and drooled over your project before but I guess I forgot to subscribe so I had to search and find it again. That 6 speed is going to be a lot of fun. I test drove a GTO ls2 6 speed and some how left the dealer without it. Later

x2 with 67cheby... What kind of wood did you use? I plan on putting wood over my floor. I priced a new floor and it was exspensive. I figured if I'm going to spend that kind of money I am going wood.

Very cool build. I was wondering about your little sand blaster, what kind of sand are you using. And the shopvac that's hooked up to it how does that work??

The sand blasting cabinet and sand I picked up from Harbor Freight. I don't remember the name of the media but it is made for the cabinet. You can get various grits. The shop vac plugs in the side of the cabinet and helps reduce the dust for visibility. I have been working on the body non-stop. I installed the front clip on the cab without the frame for block sanding for now. It will all come off again for primer and true alignment. I have color!!! I decided to go with Red. I am starting with the bottom of the bed floor and cab floor... Welded up the side markers on the bed sides. I am learning this is a lot easier to do the body work, block sanding and prep with the bed disassembled. I think I will be block sanding for the next 6 months....

Looking great! All the prep work is the hard part- but worth it in the end. Keep it up- looking forward to future progress!

I love the red paint. I know how much time it took you to get this point. Keep it up.
