Re: 67 GMC super custom build
got my nos cast iron nose cone now and the starter is assembled. Now I need to get the correct bolts for the iron nose. the aluminum nose bolts are longer. also got a starter solenoid shield original from a 67 corvette. not sure how much heat this will stop but better than nothing. may be a pain to get at the wires after though when I have to remove it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Starting to get ready to fire it up and making sure all the brackets fit as they should. It's amazing how crude gm made the ac brackets in these years. Guess it was just for a work truck back then. I'm going to mount the instant aire vacuum port to the ac bracket on the top corner. It's close to where Pontiac put it on their engines.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I Finished restoring my original oil bath air cleaner today. I had it powder coated last summer and this week I went and bought some oil bath filter element made for restoration on older tractors. bought 4 bags of it and it worked out very nicely. here's some pic's . I also had an original style paper element air cleaner powder coated and have it as well. I may just use the oil bath for shows and run the paper element when I actually drive the truck (someday) but I guess well see.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Here is something cool. I picked these new 1967 Saskatchewan licence plates up a few years ago on kijiji in the original packaging and thought I would share them with you. one pair is for trucks and the other pair is for passenger cars (maby for the matching 67 chevelle I also dream about having some day) and also I have a pair of 67 truck plates that I found in the buddy bucket counsel. I wont restore the originals being that I have new ones. these are cool.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Great build. This will be a great resource as I start to putting back together. Question- is your 327 original to your truck? If so could you tell me the head and intake casting numbers? Thanks!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That wood looks great! As does the rest of your parts. I had to use a cast iron starter nose on my 402. I just couldn't keep the aluminum ones from cracking or breaking off. Keep the pictures coming.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
work has been slow as I am getting into my busy season at work. Dennis is having trouble making the mould for my new steering wheel so I thought I would share 2 pic's of what it will look like when finished. just used a blue wheel but when finished it will be red. the wheel is from a 1967 impala originally.

A few more just in case someone needs photos of the 283/327 style air injection. Just not sure where the vacuum signal hose hooks up to.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Who did you have build your carb???
The springs on the brake drums dampen vibration (however small they may be), already previously posted, allow for better brake operation, if thats possible w/ drum brakes, the springs ARE needed, couldn't hurt w/ heat dissipation either. What rear is that, maybe particular to the GMC leaf spring pickups??? or heavy duty option??? Never ever seen one of those alternators, good find on spare. I was at an NHRA drag race in Houston, Texas in 1990. There was a racer from your town. his name was Xenon Kotelko, the announcer enjoyed saying his name, and then the name of your city... Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I had chicago carburetor do the carb. The rear diff is a dana 44, commonly used in gmc rear leaf setups and the alternator is a 20dn type 150 alternator. They were optional on trucks in 67.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got the passenger side finished up today. Here's what it looks like. I think that this exhaust manifold is cracking so I will need to get another one. Does anyone know what coating is on the smog tubes from factory? Anything out there that will last on these?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
sorry for all the motor pics guys but I do this for myself so I can see these anywhere I go rather than running home to my computer all the time. sure you guys don't mind. rebuilt carb on now, dizzy and plug wires. Never had a set of pre-made wires fit so well out of the box. now to tear it apart and rebuild it all. still would like to know where the Smog signal hose goes if anyone knows.
