Love the added pics. I always found it funny that they put straight 6s in 1 ton trucks. Must be the 292 right?? That's what I just pulled out of my truck.

I really like the 292 and with my """""5.13""""" gears it... uhhh... has all the pulling power one could ever ask for! BUT! No gas milage and 55mph is screamin!!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

I'd actually be really interested in that 67 bed! Could you post a link to in? The rear that is in my truck now I will not be using.. I have a later model with 4.10 gears thats actually 9" wider that my current rear, which will place my tries about 6-7 inches outside the fleet bed per side. I think a long step bed with flares would be cool! Definitely different!

here it is

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/cto/3582060114.html

you might see if you can wrangle it out of him without the rest of the truck. I dont think he's gonna get quite what he's asking for the whole pile anyway!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

yeah, I didn't think about it, but you really need a 67 bed anyway, if you use 68 fenders. They'll have the side marker light holes in them. And the step fenders may end up running right across the fleetside light holes, too.

Yep thats what I've been thinking. Unfortunately that bed appears to be a lighter blue then mine! I really appreciate you keeping an eye out for one though!

Re: She's a ton of fun (dually build on air)

It's good this discussion came up. I was thinking your truck was the medium blue they had that year. I see now it's actually the dark blue non-metallic. I'll switch gears an keep an eye out. If you still have that longhorn GMC bed, I might be a player on it. I'm going to Murphreesboro fairly soon, maybe something will come up and I can take a bed both ways!

I do have one fella thats interested in the bed and tailgate, Since he asked first I feel obligated to see if he will want it first. Again I really appreciate you keeping an eye out for me!

No problem! I look most days anyway. And I understand about the GMC bed! I may not do it anyway. I have a 70 C20 that my wife's grandfather bought new, that just happens to be copper/white. It's a reg long bed, but I pondered lengthening it to longhorn spec and dropping it. I got on this kick when I found a real Camper Cruiser (a GMC LH version) recently---I went so far as to ask PB why a rear dropmember wouldnt work in that frame.

It may be the same mental illness that makes a guy want to make a C30 lay frame!
