Got some work done today. I was able to use the stock '07 Chevy Tahoe motor mounts and the stock Blazer cross member to set the engine in place. A little fab work was worth the saving of buying some conversion engine mounts. I just need to add some plating to the cross member and the tube mounts then it's done. The Blazer stock trans/t-case cross member is also going to be used. The trans sits about 2" higher then the original mount due to the engine configuration and the extra oil pan clearence from the front pumpkin, but a little trimming with the plasma and it clears. I will patch the floor later. Here are some pics of todays progress, I will snap some pics of the trans mounts tomorrow.....

Looks like a good fit. Couple questions, is there any concern with having the engine and tranny higher, raising the center of gravity? Also, was wondering if the front frame rail crossmember was going to be strengthened. I've seen someone replace it with a stronger tubular support. I know you have tubes across the top, I was wondering if the bottom needed extra strength to keep it from spreading or even colapsing inward during high speed turning.

I really like this build. Makes me wish I still lived out west.

I thought about the higher center of gravity, but I dont think this small amount will be notice much. I also have all the weight of the interior cage that does not help with the weight up high. One thing to consider is the ride height will be quite lower then most trucks with 35" tires. Only a couple of inches higher then stock.
The cross member will be stengthened quite a bit. I was going to make my own cross member, but I thought since I have this one, I will try it. If I dont like the finished part, I will build my own, but I am confident this will be plenty strong by the time I am done.

No I meant the flared bedsides and raised and flared front fenders. I found the guy on a class 3 site that has all the hickey rides. Any idea if he is selling fenders or bedsides? Did you ever think about ttb or even 2x4 and beams? I love the look of a long beam droped way down.

I understood. I am just using the stock front and rear and modifying them to clear.
Not a fan of the ttb, the in and out camber drives me nuts. For some people, they are great. To each his own I guess.

Qeustion for you suspension experts...
As you know, radius arms will bind in an articulating situation. Since I have these arms built, can I just "cut in" a small shock on the upper arm like my paint pic below? The shock could act like a sway control to some extent. Any thoughts?

When I saw this thread pop up and looked at the first page, I couldn't figure out why you were building a 1,987 pt. roll cage. Now I know!

Not much since last update, but I got started on the brake line mock up. I swear, I think the big tubing is easier to work with then this litlle 3/16 stuff

The brake lines will run inside the frame rails down the driver side. The fronts convert to a bulkhead 90* then to braided flex on the radius arm for the movement. The flex then goes back to hard line on the arm then back to flex to the caliper. I used banjo fitting on the caliper. Also, I never posted the pics of how I lowered my brake booster. I just simply turned the brackets over. A little cutting and welding and it was done.
I also threw the fenders on to see where the tires ended up since I pushed the axle forward some. A little trimming should take care of it. Dont worry, the fenders are not in the best shape, so cutting them will only shed one tear instead of two.
