Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

I haven't been doing anything lately besides final prep for paint. Real boring as far as photos go.
But I have had a chance in between paint prep, to build brackets for my radiator & fan, and mock it up prior to prepping the support for paint.
The radiator & fan are from an SS Camaro that was the donor car.
The brackets turned out really slick...I chopped off the original mounts on the fan shroud and now the fan hangs on the integrated hooks on the radiator tanks, and will simply lift off... and all of the hoses & transmission lines hook-up like from the factory.

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

YAHOO!!!
Tonight I finally got a chance to get a little color into the picture!
After work I went to my friends house, where we will be cutting-in all of the body panels with paint in order to shoot the back-side of a few panels, to see if I even liked the color that I have chosen....I am thinking thumbs-up!!!...I am pretty excited!
Bear in mind that these are the the unexposed sides of panels, and that a minimal amount of time was spent prepping, as compared to the exposed sides of these. Also it was simply a color test to determine if the color was what was interpreted from the color chip.....I am ordering more paint tomorrow!
Some pics are with & without a flash..

very nice color modge, love it, and the radiator is sick, heck you will be doing burnouts before you know it. fresh paint gets you pumped up and things really start coming together.

I can't compliment you any more than the other guys already have ... awesome work.

Do you have any more pics of how you mounted the radiator itself? I have a radiator like that and may end up using it.

Thanks again everyone for the comments!

I shot some additional pics of the support yesterday, as I took it apart for paint-prep.
The radiator is simply sandwiched between 4 nylon blocks mounted to the upper & lower mounting plates that fit into the top & bottom radiator channels...2 blocks mounted to each plate.
As you can see in the photos, there was a failed attempt to measure twice & drill once...LOL!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

And the money shots!!!
I finally got some more time to paint last night.
I hope that this is a good indication of how the rest of it will look when finished!

I have been working hard on the finish-prep to paint the cab, and we shot the bottom of it last night. We're gonna mask the bottom off tomorrow to protect it from over-spray, then tip it back upright to start cutting in the rest the cab.
I barely did anything to prep the bottom besides the original sanding, then ONE thick coat of epoxy primer, and then scuffed the bottom with scotchbright....it looks really awesome!!!!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

We painted the interior today with the exception of the dashboard. we wanted to seal the inside so that there is less risk of getting any dirt in the dash when we do paint it.
I didn't put any clear on the floor, just basecoat. I'm gonna put sound deadener, and carpet on it anyways....Three coats of clear on the rest. I think it looks really great.
